Europe wants to reduce its dependence on China. But as a record heatwave grips the continent, Europeans are buying Chinese-made air conditioners in record numbers. As Brussels pushes back against Beiing over trade, exports and market access, consumer demand is telling a very different story. Why can't Europe quit China?

It's not only Chinese brands, top European brands also manufacture their air conditioners and fans in China. Electrolux, Whirlpool, Airwell, De'longhi, Rowenta, etc. all manufacture in China for export to Europe. The Japanese and Koreans also manufacture low end models in China for export to Europe.

China, please do not supply air conditioners to the EU; this way, you avoid accusations of production overcapacity and flooding their market with air conditioners. Let them sweat it out first, and hopefully they’ll come to their senses.
Otherwise, raise the price of the air conditioners to three or five times the amount.

Europe is a petulant child. They don't make their own necessities, because of low foresight, sclerotic limitations placed by politicians and regulators, and are trying to dictate to the market maker, their terms and conditions. If China was a petty nation, Europe would have been in a much more devastating position, but China thinks long term. The more items it quietly removes from it's dependency list, the more soft power over EU it will gain, without having to resort to extreme measures. There's not much left there, for China to even need to take Europe seriously, except a diversified market to sell goods. It's definitely not mandatory though. They can bend Europe over and spank them when necessary

Chinese companies operate in a fiercely competitive, "Hunger Games" -style environment. They are constantly improving the quality of their products while lowering the price. Moreover, China often produce goods that have utility while a lot of European goods are aspirational. It's no suprise that Europeans buy more Chinese goods than the other way round.

欧洲企业刻意控制产能、抬高售价，靠稀缺感当做营销卖点。中国企业身处白热化竞争环境，一边降价，一边持续升级产品品质。而且中国制造主打实用，很多欧洲产品只是主打高端噱头。也难怪欧洲人更愿意买中国商品。

Europe thinks turning Ukraine into the largest country in Europe is a good idea and trusting Ukraine isn't going to turn around and take the rest of Europe and finish what Hitler started. Ukraine was a neutral country between Russia and the rest of Europe after the end of WW2 because Russia was so large and all the other countries in Europe were small so a no side had Ukraine was agreed upon. I get the US, using Ukraine to defeat Russia made taking the rest of Europe and expanding US territory over two continuents but countries in Europe and Canada making Ukraine the largest country and a global power not so much.

India makes fantastic ACs! Indian companies did the HVAC for places like the Burj Khalifa. The EU has a trade deal with India. The EU should incentivise money conscious European consumers to buy Made in India ACs instead if they can't afford local EU products!

Most of the parts and the compressors are from China.
India can't even make air-conditioner without Chinese parts and compressors.
Not only in India, the Midea brand air conditioners from Thailand are actually Chinese parts but assemble/package in Thailand.

What natural resources does India have and are they controlled by individuals or by the government on behalf of the people and the government recieves revenue for access to them. I ask this because natural resources provide revenue to be spend on investment that repays money spend and long term revenue not generated not needing taxation.

Are the materials for these Air conditions from India as well or imported from another country. I am asking because China uses materials from their own country and all materials are owned by the government and therefore the cost to buy them controls the cost of the material. If you want to compete directly with China, I guess the manufacture of your airconditioners, offer shares of the company to material manufacture for wholesale cost to buy it and then they make greater profits out of shares they own of the manufacturing company. Lowering expenses now and paying them out in shares of profits later.
