China has gone from steam trains to Bullet trains in 25 years, in England we can't even get 100 miles of track built due to fraud and mismanagement by our Government, so dont tell me about how bad China's is whilst commenting from a Chinese made phone powered by an electric grid owned by the Chinese . No one forced our multi nationals to outsource our industries to China, the shareholders did it to make more money and our Government allowed it.

The EU's not banned Chinese vehicles that's just the US and Canada with their 100% tariffs. The EU just sought to incentivise the Chinese manufacturers to setup manufacturing in Europe, which many are doing, BYD, Xpeng etc.

Chinese brands in Europe really should explicitly state how much their cars cost before and after tariffs. So an Xpeng G6 might cost 25,000 euros pre-tariff and 33,000 euros after. That way customers know exactly what their govts are doing and how overtaxed their purchases are

No tariffs in the UK and BYD is one of the more expensive brands, higher than the other Chinese brands. It seems as the BYD CEO said they are looking to increase profit margins in export markets to make up for the inability to make profits in the cut-throat Chinese domestic market.

For all those thinking of anything else, the reality of Europe is that today it has double the immigration than a few years ago, and so on for decades, over 70 million immigrants in Europe. Even politicians are labeling them as doctors and engineers, most of them are ... hairstylists... and are getting from society more money than they produce (again, no matter what politicians are saying). So the buying power is decreasing; a car 10 years ago was 40% of the annual average income of a European, today that one is 65%. So, lower buying power means people are buying much more of the cheapest available cars. This is why the most sold car in Europe is...Dacia Sandero, starting from 13000 euros...A Romanian brand, but a car produced by Renault in North Africa...
PS: For me is clear - if Tesla FSD is not available in Europe, probably my next car will be a cheaper but better Chinese EV car (compared with European legacy EVs ).

I’m currently in Europe. Been touring around France, Italy, Switzerland and the UK for the past 6 weeks. I’m not anti EV, might buy a Fiat 500E in 2027 but I see no evidence of an EV “explosion” here at all. What has surprised me is the incredible number of 2006 Mk5 VW Golf’s getting around and they all look like new. In fact, all models of VW are absolutely everywhere, despite the "diesel gate" issue a few years ago.

Tired of EU hypocrisy: it is not about saving the climate! Europeans are forced into EVs by all means to allegedly "save the climate". Punitive, unfair and harsh measures and prohibitions are in place and more coming every year. Now cheap and reliable EV alternatives to Tesla and EU automakers come around - and they make it extremely expensive to buy them locally - at least double, often triple the price the same car is sold in China. Every country locally receives the 19%, 23%, 25% VAT - the tariffs of 17% to 37% go into EU coffers. It´s tax on tax on tax. Solar panels from China payed 55% tariffs (+VAT) from 2013 to 2023 making it equally expensive to install solar panels on the roof. Silence! No outcry from the climate lobby, no Europe-wide protests, nothing from green politicians, nothing from the media. If the Chinese Competition offers better value for money let them sell it.

Hey Electric viking....if chinese cars come to Canada, I am thinking of a start up replacing all batteries with CATL sodium ion batteries in all EV's in Canada. This would be in exsting EV's all Tesla, GM, Kia etc. Do you think that would be a market for that...you could use your old batteries for home storage of power. The Chinese cars are way more expensive in Europe than they are in China because of the extra tariffs. But they still make far more profit in Europe than in China. That's how expensive European cars are.
