The World Robot Conference is currently underway in Beiing. It comes as some analysts say China has overtaken the US in the robotics race, particularly when it comes to humanoid robots. In the past year Chinese humanoid robots have danced in lunar New Year celebrations, run alongside humans in the Beiing half-marathon, and faced off in the first humanoid robot kickboxng competition... a display of the nation's prowess.

I've seen plenty of 'robotic units' used in USA manufacturing over 40 years and just can't see anything like is shown in the video becoming a reality in the near future. There just doesn't seem to be a need for a robot to be shaped like a human or 4-legged animal so it can walk, talk, move things with humanoid arms. There have been plenty of simple factory robots, and some more advanced ones, but robots that appear to be sentient seem far off.
