中国首款可自主更换电池的人形机器人

Shenzhen-based company UBTech said it had developed a new humanoid robot that can change its own batteries. A demonstration video released on July 17, 2025 shows the whole process of the Walker S2 robot changing its batteries on its own. This feature means that the robot can – in theory– work non-stop 24 hours a day without human assistance, according to the Chinese company.

As engineer i actually had the same vision about humanoid robots which can recharge itself and repair between themselves, or even assemble another one. The robots need to takecare themselves somehow. Otherwise it will make no sense if it depends on human labor to maintain it.

The whole idea of making a humanoid robot is to make it move. So if it can walk it might as well walk itself to a charging dock to charge itself up. That is part of the goal and aim in the whole picture. Nothing really worth reading about a robot who knows how to charge itself.
