Jammu hit spurs IAF to quickly acquire 10 anti-drone sy ems
NEW DELHI: The IAF now wants to acquire 10 counter-unmanned aircraft sy ems (CUAS) in the aftermath of the first-ever drone terror strike in the country at the Jammu air force station on June 27.
A day after the Jammu attack, which exposed operational gaps in tackling small commercially-available drones rigged with explosives, the IAF issued a RFI (request for information) to seek responses from Indian companies for the counter-drone sy ems called CUAS.
The esting IAF air defence sy ems, with advanced radars and missilesy ems, are geared towards thwarting air intrusions by larger unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aircraft and helicopters, as was earlier reported by TOI.
“The CUAS is intended to detect, track, identify, designate and neutralize hostile UAS. Laser-Directed Energy Wons (Laser-DEWs) are essentially required as a kill option,” said the RFI.
With the formal sion and procurement process to kick off in the third quarter of this year, the Indian vendors have to specify the delivery schedule. The IAF is keen to commence delivery of the CUAS at the earliest after the contract is inked and complete it within a year.

Better to acquire and boost defence in advance. Don't take such attacks lightly.
What was the threat perception of Defense strategists ? Do we act only after getting slap ? Unfortunate pattern is prevailing in most of the domains.
Why are we always reactive and always defensive. Cant we build drones? what stopped us from sending hundreds of drones inside te rortan? was it a secret that drones can be used in warfares.... then why didnt we employ such sy ems in place already? why do we act only when something happens???
Need More Land
What are all the IIT grads doing? Ban all IIT grads from working in foreign social media tech and back office work.
Its kinda funny that after attack now we are looking for these sy ems when last couple years multiple times paki drones spotted carrying things. But okay. Better late than later.
Does our Military have always to be reactive and never proactive ? Can't we keep track of latest developments in the field of military hardware and software ? Do we really lack brains
Thank God You (BJP) woke up from deep slumber
Drones warfare started 5 years ago. Now we have woken up. The public never expected such unpreparedness from our defence forces.
Armed forces and Courts in India need serious reform. The sy em British established is outdated now.
While the defence forces must no doubt get the best of military hardware to neuter the terror hub, a better solution has to be found to discourage Pakistan to make such futile attempts. Striking at the very source of such terror may serve a better purpose.
This is ditto behaviour of all Indian go nments so far since decades. They never ever can be proactive.
IAF as well as Indian Army is always late but then wish to speed up when discovered. They are not pro-active.
Be proactive not reactive.
As usual response always comes after getting hit, govt, intelligence, army sab chai pakode mein busy hain
WHY WE ARE ALWAYS REACTIVE? WHEN WILL INDIA BE PROACTIVE?
COST OF FEW RAFAELS WAS SUFFICIENT TO BUILD ELECTRONIC WALL ON BORDER TO FIGHT BOTH DRONES AND INFILTRATION …
Clearly Godi media is trying its best to cover up the deep co ption on the Rafale deal.
Our defence establishment acts only after being attacked.Security strategists have no foresight unfortunately.
IAF Guys… are you FINALLY awake?
We should go for Israeli sy ems.We may take decades to manufacture such sy ems and by the time you may lose thousands of our people.
