NEW DELHI: Refusing to apologise for his 'rape in India' remark, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that the BJP is trying to divert attention from the northeast, which is witnessing widespread violence due to the Citizenship Act.

新德里：国大党领袖拉胡尔•甘地拒绝为自己所发表的“印度是强奸之都”的言论道歉。他上周五表示，印度人民党正试图转移人们对东北部的注意力。由于《公民法》的颁布，暴力事件正在当地蔓延。

"I have a clip on my phone in which Narendra Modi ji is calling Delhi a 'rape capital', will tweet it so that everyone can see. Just to deflect attention from protests in North East, this is being made an issue by BJP," Rahul told reporters.

拉胡尔对记者表示：“我手机上有一段视频，在视频中纳伦德拉·莫迪称德里为‘强奸之都’，我会在推特上发布这段视频，让每个人都能看到。为了转移人们对东北部抗议活动的注意力，人民党刻意制造问题。”

Shortly after, the Congress leader tweeted a video link of PM Narendra Modi where he can be seen referring to Delhi as the rape capital. In his tweet, Rahul also asked the Prime Minister to apologise for the ongoing protest in northeastern states, for 'destroying' the country's economy and for calling Delhi a rape capital.
