How is this news ? Chinese TV has been saying this since its launch. The PL15 and now the PL16 is meant for long range attack on less maneuverable aircraft and SEAD. But the 6th Gen J36 is likely to be a upgraded tool for this purpose.

I would not be surprised if it was a technical issue. How stealthy was the Mig 1.44? The J-20 engine issues have not been resolved even after three iterations. They have no real combat data to base any real world analysis.

Not having a sample F 22 or F 35 to test radar against, it is logical to use the J 20 to test radars and accept the result of seeing stealth fighters (J 20) and pass it off as ability to see the F 35 and F 22 and B2
