Huawei cars are really good on paper, if Toyota can give a stamp of approval on it, it’s really great. You can see Aito M series in lots of mall in China and despite you can see the finish of the cars, you got no idea how well it handles on the road or if the components would be reliable. Having Toyota check it out would really be good.

About 3 years ago I was with a Toyota salesman who sneered at the EVs China was starting to build. He said Toyota had wonderful hydrogen technology which would blow away EVs if they got too popular. Meanwhile, Toyota's hybrid cars would eat up the market. Scroll forward and the rest is history. Maybe he's a BYD salesman today.

30 years back the chinese learnt how to make cars from the Japanese. Some reverse engineered them and slapped them with a Chinese logo. Now a reverse happened. The Japanese start to learn EV from the Chinese. This is not humiliation , this is just in order to stay relevant, the word pride cannot be stick to onto the forehead anymore. you think Toyota will give up so easily I don't think so I am sure they still have the Samurai fighting spirit in-built in heart and soul. Many true blue(old fashioned) Japanese still believe their race is superior to the Chinese. But I am sure they were surprised they truely beaten in this round of EV technology mainly pioneered by the Chinese engineers. You never know the next round of true pioneering new technology vehicles may truely belong to them if their new generation of Japanese engineers are truely hungry and motivated enough. Time will tell.
