problem is that we have spent 30 years on schematic with this engine in mind for tejas so we cant change engine on whim we also need to consider our needs nd get things work by hook nd crook ... wish it was a car or something that we had multiple choices but its fighter plane so we cant do much on short term ... just go with the flow nd start working on our flaws like our own indigenous engine.

It’s a carrot. AMCA is being designed with variable engine mount. Thus if US drag feet, then can be switched to safran or rolls Royce. Only re certification will be needed not redesign.
