There are many reasons why.I talk about a few things and show you where I go in my daily life, and what parts of my day look like, from food to transportation, to going out, and more. I've been living in China for six years, and I'm not moving back to the States. Life here is so different, so I wanted to show you guys a day in my life and explain why I live here and the reasons I don't want to move back. I'm BeeRose in China

Life here is so convenient, and that's one of the main reasons why I love living in China. Right now, I'm in a morning market, which is where I usually buy my breakfast. As you can see, there's so many tasty options, but there's more than just breakfast here. There's produce, fruit, and even stuff for your apartment. In America, we really don't have stuff like this. Sure, we have grocery stores, but they're usually very far away, and you always have to drive because everything in America revolves around cars.

There's around 22 million people in Beiing, and most of them are living in apartment complexes. That's a lot of people who need a lot of things. All you need to do is walk out of your door around 2 minutes, and you will find things like the morning market and more. Check it out here I am—you can see right here is a pharmacy, here is a market, and over here you can buy snacks. Behind me, not even a minute away is an apartment complex. So convenient! If you don't want to own a car, you don't have to.

And that brings me to my next point: Beiing is super walkable and rideable. I love walking on the sidewalks in Beiing because they're so spacious. I usually push my baby girl around in the stroller, and the best part is they never end—they are literally everywhere. If you don't feel like walking, you don't have to. There are shared bikes all over, and they're super affordable. For one ride, you pay just 15 cents.

中国的生活太方便了，这是我喜欢住在中国的主要原因之一。我在一个早市买早餐。这里有很多好吃的，而且不止有早餐——还有农产品、水果，甚至有公寓里用的东西。在美国，我们很少有这样的地方。当然，我们有杂货店，但通常都很远，而且必须开车去，美国的一切都围绕着汽车运转。

北京大约有2200万人口，大多数人都住在公寓楼里。这么多人需要很多东西，但你只要出门走两分钟左右，就能找到早市之类的地方。我现在所在的地方——有一家药店，有市场，可以买零食，我身后不到一分钟路程就是一个公寓小区。太方便了！如果你不想买车，完全可以不买。

接下来我想说的是，北京非常适合步行和骑行。我喜欢在北京的人行道上散步，很宽敞。我通常推着婴儿车带我的宝贝女儿四处走，最棒的是人行道几乎无处不在。如果你不想走路，也可以不走路——到处都有共享自行车，而且价格非常实惠，骑一次只要15美分。

But if you don't want to take a bike, you don't have to, because the transportation in Beiing is next level. It's very easy to tell when the next bus will arrive. Behind me, you can see the ETAs and how many stops away the buses are. I remember when I was in Paris waiting for buses—I literally had no clue where the bus was. Here, you know everything.

Alright, guys, let's get on the bus, and I'm gonna show you how to pay for it. To pay for your bus ride, all you need to do is open Alipay, get the QR code, and scan it. In America, if you took the bus, you would definitely come across a ton of sketchy people. But here in Beiing, mostly the people on the bus are gonna be old people going to buy their veggies.

But if you don't want to take the bus, you don't have to—you can take a Didi or the subway. The subway here is fast, efficient, clean, and on time. And the best part is there's 5G A underground ("A" stands for "advanced")—the download speed is ten times faster than ordinary 5G. They plan to roll out 6G around 2029. You can see tons of people on their phones in the subway. In the States, you can't see this—not because they don't want to, but because they can't. All they can do is listen to music or read books.

We got off the subway and walked to a mall. I love malls in China, and they are everywhere. Malls in America are dying, while in China they are thriving. And malls here are so kid-friendly—usually, there are entire floors just for kids. China being so kid-friendly is a huge reason why I want to raise my kids here and not in America.

如果你不想骑自行车，也可以选择其他交通方式，北京的交通堪称一流。很容易就能知道下一班公交车什么时候到，电子屏上显示着预计到达时间和距离还有几站。我记得在巴黎等公交车时，我完全不知道车在哪里，只能傻等；但在北京，一切都清清楚楚。

好了，朋友们，我来告诉你们怎么支付车费。要付车费，你只需要打开支付宝，调出二维码，然后扫描即可。在美国，如果你坐公交车，肯定会遇到很多可疑的人；但在北京，公交车上大多是去买蔬菜的老人。

如果你不想坐公交车，也可以选择滴滴或地铁。这里的地铁快捷、高效、干净又准时，最棒的是地下还有5G-A（A代表“先进”）——下载速度比普通5G快十倍。他们计划在2029年左右推出6G。在地铁里，你可以看到很多人在玩手机，在美国却很少见到这种情景——不是因为他们不想玩，而是因为没有信号，玩不了手机，他们只能听听音乐或看看书。

我们下了地铁，步行到一家商场。我喜欢中国的商场，而且到处都是商场。美国的商场正在衰落，而中国的商场却蓬勃发展。中国的商场非常适合带孩子去——通常有一整层都是儿童专区。中国对儿童如此友好，这是我想在这里而不是美国抚养孩子的一个重要原因。

We're out of the mall, and now it's time to take a Didi. All I need to do is open up the Didi app, tell it where I wanna go, and pick what kind of car I want—do I want a basic car like a tax or a luxury car like a Maybach? Whatever your style is, they definitely have a car for you. In the states, there's Uber, but Uber is super expensive, and I'm pretty sure you have to tip (I don't know—let me know in the comments). I've literally never used Uber in the states; I always owned a car, and it was always super expensive—insurance, gas, and if something breaks, you have to fix it. I love that in Beiing, you have the option to not own a car.

Personally, I think the best option to get around the city is the subway. So if you come to China to visit, definitely take the subway—it's clean, fast, and on time no matter what. If you take a car, the traffic is probably going to be bad no matter what time of day it is, because it's Beiing and there's a lot of people here.

The next reason why I love living here? The real "danger" in China is that you're gonna gain tons of weight and spend all your money on food because the food here is just too good. In Beiing, I can eat Chinese food from all over China. I love Sichuan food, but it's super far away—yet even in Beiing, I can still find authentic options. In the states, there is Chinese food, but it's more Cantonese style and Americanized. It's good, but it's not *that* good.

我们从商场出来，现在该叫滴滴了。我只需要打开滴滴应用，告诉它我想去哪里，然后选择我想要的车型——是像出租车这样的普通车，还是像迈巴赫这样的豪华车？无论你喜欢哪种风格，都一定能找到适合你的车。在美国，有Uber，但Uber超级贵，而且你得给小费。在美国，我几乎从来没用过Uber，我一直有一辆车，但养车成本总是很高——保险、汽油，要是车坏了还得修。我喜欢在北京可以选择不买车。

就我个人而言，我认为在城市里出行的最佳方式是地铁。如果你要来中国旅游，一定要坐地铁——它干净、快捷，而且无论如何都准时。如果你打车，无论白天还是晚上，交通可能都很拥堵，因为这是北京，这里有很多人。

我喜欢住在这里的下一个原因是什么呢？在中国，真正的“危险”是你体重会增重很多，还会把所有钱都花在食物上，因为这里的食物太好吃了。在北京，我可以吃到来自中国各地的美食。我喜欢四川菜，但四川很远，不过即使在北京，我仍然能找到正宗的四川菜。在美国，也有中餐，但更多是粤菜风格，而且美国化了。味道不错，但没那么好吃。

Also, I don't need to worry about carrying a bag or a wallet because my phone is my wallet. All I need to do is open up Alipay or WeChat and scan to pay. It's so quick, fast, and easy.

Now, it's time to try the dou zhi (fermented soy milk). Oh my god, it's stinky! I've heard it's an acquired taste—definitely an acquired taste. It's super sour. Whoa, that'll definitely wake you up in the morning.

And my last point is about safety. That is really one of the main reasons why I will continue living here and not move back to the states. I have two kids here, so safety means literally everything to me. Also, my husband and I really enjoy going out late at night, and I always feel so comfortable doing so. I very often see women out alone—they're going to bars, clubs, and they look very at ease. They're playing on their phones, walking around, and don't look paranoid. It is such a great feeling.

此外，我不需要担心带包或钱包，因为我的手机就是钱包。我只需要打开支付宝或微信，扫描支付即可。一切都那么便捷快速。

Americans, Canadians and some western countries the people can be so disgusting. Even providing very bad service to customers especially Asian customers and yet they expect tips. Tip is given to serving staff only if they give good service to customers and is to show appreciation. Not a must or complusory.

You’re right. I’m living in Canada now and the fact that I have to give out tips in Subway is absurd. I can take it that if I received some good service in a nice restaurant, I have to show some appreciation with tips. I’m fine with that. But now tips are just everywhere.

They have increased their standards - very much unlike some decades before when they wanted English language teachers as quickly as possible. Not so any longer especially after they discovered scammers among the foreign teachers.

as a Chinese, I can confirm this warmth is real. The happy family she has in China is the best proof. Chinese guys are responsible and considerate, but many are held back by shyness and limited English, so they aren’t very proactive. For foreign girls visiting China who know some English, my advice is to take the initiative! Start conversations with Chinese guys. Not only will you make great friends during your trip, but you might even find lifelong happiness here.

I'm Asian and have been living in the USA for over 43 years. My home state is Arizona, and in the summer months, the temperature can exceed 117° f. The problem for me is that over time, I acquired so much stuff like tools, engines, and cars. At my age, 64 years old is out of the question. Plus, I'm an introvert. Just give me my 5 acres or 10 acres with fences, and then I'll be happy.

We were once able to do that in our own Australian cities in Melbourne and Sydney some 30, 40 years ago but not so much these days especially if you are a single, young woman. We have seen a rise in marauding gangs of teenagers, home break-ins and unfortunately professional gangs dealing in drugs and in warfare against one another. We have lost our innocence.

You don't have to tip in Uber, but if the driver is nice, friendly & interactive then I do tip, I do the same to DiDi drivers as well when I am in China, often times they just didn't know how to react to the tips but happily accept it after I told them I appreciated the good service.

tip is not recommended in China, it's potentially unfair to employees who provides good services but don't receive tips, and it may deflect the responsibilities of paying condign salaries from the merchants to customers. If you do appreciate their services, give a 5 star comment on apps

Please respect norms in other countries. There is a reason they discourage it. It has a different connotation too in other places. Uber has a tip option. UberEats begs you if you try to check out without tip. They even added a new feature that says you can even tip $1.00. I do not tip until after the service because some of the people are weird lately.

I visited China last month. It was awesome, beautiful sceneries, great food and friendly people. The public transportation is very convenient and affordable. It is safe to walk around at night. I left my luggage by my seat and went to the bathroom in a train station and I didn’t have to worry about the luggage getting stolen. The only thing that bothers me is the second hand smoke! People smoke everywhere in China. Not much incentive for Chinese people to quit smoking because cigarettes are so cheap there.

Does any of the Chinese cities have rat issues? In America, that is one of the biggest issue in the subway system. After the pandemic, they decided to venture out to the street level.

I left Hong Kong for Canada and then US. My family is still in Hong Kong, ie my parents, my sis and bro. They feel comfortable living in Hong Kong for the safty and convenience. They travel to different countries and choose to stay in Hong Kong. I am glad that they have made that decision. I go back to Hong Kong quite often and witness the improvement in every aspect and it seems that they are heading better for the sake of majority of nationals. Some of the Chinese they choose to move to US or Canada for their own personal reason which I understand. No matter what, the living enviroment in getting better in China, so the majority of citizens don't have to make that decision to move to other countries to adjust themself culturally and learn a total new language. I still have to help some who have been in a foreign countries for years and they still need help in expressing themselves in English. I am glad that you like to live in China. US is less and less friendly towards Asians and I feel that US and Canada is facing downhill and the majority of US citizens don't realize that just by printing money would not help to solve the inflation which my retirement income would not be enough to live comfortable here.

有些中国人因为个人原因选择搬到美国或加拿大，我理解。但不管怎样，中国的生活环境越来越好，大多数人不用被迫搬到其他国家，不用适应文化差异、学习全新的语言。

我还得帮助一些在外国住了多年却依然英语表达困难的人。很高兴你喜欢住在中国。美国对亚洲人越来越不友好，我感觉美国和加拿大在走下坡路，大多数美国公民没意识到，光靠印钱解决不了通胀问题，我的退休金在这里都不够舒服地生活。

There are not enough cows in China. On the other hand there are so many people. People eat vegetables a lot in China. When I was in Russia, people eat a lot of meat and hardly any vegetables.

In the Europe, even if you just have a cup of coffee and bread, you still have to tip. The tip must be at least 15%. What? Isn't this a simple job? No, you still have to tip. It puts a lot of pressure on consumers. If you go to a big restaurant, you have to tip 20-25%.

The Chinese students I’ve met in the U.S. are really great - very bright, friendly people. But mostly they want to stay here, not return to China. The grass is always greener somewhere else, I guess.
