Finance minister unveils Rs 6 lakh crore national asset monetisation plan
NEW DELHI: Finance minister Nirm Sitharn on Monday launched a four-year road map for a Rs 6-lakh-crore asset monetisation plan. A large chunk of this will be through brownfield assets of central ministries and public sector entities across roads, railways and power.
The finance minister made it clear that the plan only involves brownfield projects and not land and also promised to give incentives to states for undertaking disinvestment and asset monetisation.
“Ownership of assets remains with the go nment and there will be a mandatory handback, which means they will have to give back after a specified time. Let there be no confusion that this go nment is selling away. No. These brownfield assets will still be the ownership of the go nment,” Sitharn said, while unveiling the road map, which is a crucial element along with privatisation of state-run companies for raising resources to push growth and create jobs ag inst the backdrop of the pandemic.
In the 2021-22 budget , Sitharn had announced the launch of asset monetisation programme as a funding mechanism for greater infrastructure spending.
The go nment has already announced a Rs 100-lakh-crore national infrastructure pipeline. The national asset monetisation pipeline has been developed by Niti Aayog, in consultation with infrastructure ministries.
Good and long awaited move by BJP govt.
Great initiaitve... Had it been earlier, India would have been much more advanced by now...
Most shameless and useless minister. History will not forgive these bigots.
Gov of Feku did nothing special BUT destroying everything that was created built & developed by Congress for development of New India.
By the time, this Govt., is sent packing by the people, nothing will be left in the country as national asset. India is literally thrown open for sale by an utterly bankrupt govt.,
Has this been discussed & debated in Parliament? Have Feku taken opposition parties in confidence? Have All Party or Allies Partys Conset or Consensus is sought?

So this is a welcome step by Govt. they must monetize these assets as quickly as possible. Private sector will generate better employment Than PSU's.
Feku who is spirited to destroy foundation of Todays India.
Clever title given for looting! It should be renamed as 'India's assets selling plan'!!!!. By 2029, even parts of India may be sold!!!
Hope India too will not be sold off
India is on sale sale sale
Investment on Road building is good, but , how to deal with highway crimes.. Need to ensure crime free highway!
Ultimately the Assets Created in 70 Years have come to the rescue of this go nment. They didn't built anything significant except Statues and have everything that was in the Nation's Treasures.
NOW GDP OF INDIA WILL INCREASE. JOBS TO ALL UNEMPLOYED YOUTH WILL BE READY. INFLATION WILL COME DOWN. PRICES OF GROCERY VEGGIES OILS ESSENTIALS WILL REDUCE.
