Heavy rains wreak havoc in Himachal Pradesh, highways blocked
SHIMLA/MANALI: Incessant heavy rainfall since Sunday night wreaked havoc across Himachal Pradesh as national and state highways were blocked due to landslides and flash floods in nullahs dged houses and swept vehicles away.
Kangra district suffered the worst dge: a nine-year-old girl was missing after being swept away by a gushing nullah at Chahdi village in Nagrota sub-division, and another 12 people were missing in Boh valley, Shahpur sub-division. At Bhagsunag, near Dharamsh, several vehicles were washed away by water that roared out of an overflowing local nullah.
All tourists are accounted for till now and have been advised to stay put wherever they are as heavy rain is expected on Tuesday too.
Landslides caused by heavy rain blocked the Chandigarh-Manali national highway and bypass road. The Manali-Leh highway was also partially blocked due to flash floods at three places. Two houses were partially dged in Mandi district and one vehicle fell into the Chenab river in Lahaul valley. Electricity supply was also suspended at some places and some link roads were blocked by landslides.
Himachal chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said heavy rainfall had caused extensive dge across the state, with Kangra the worst-hit district. He said so far no loss of life had been reported in the state and NDRF teams had been deployed for relief operations. The CM said all DCs and SPs had been directed to remain on alert.
Nature's way of replying to the idiot tourists
Let the tourists enjoy the nature fury too.
What is PM Modi doing, he has no idea on how to control nature. He should immediately resign.
Om Nh Shivayah
Jaitam Thakur is one of the worst ever CM made in HP. This man is brainless fellow. Literally sold out Himachal to tourists who come there and fill the entire place with filth and Garbage.
Tourists are storming to hill stations amidst COVID still around.. Most of us are also at home for last 2 years .. dont understand why people cant stay at home?? We all want to go out but patience is required for some more time..
Bad news to start the day, it is not nature fury but our own Karma, devastation in Mountains in the name of development.
Waiting for tears from Modi and blaming Nehru.
Chai Lo Chai
That’s what happens when you deforest in the name of development.
More cmities in offing.
Main point -- is missing in the news item..... Is HP under BJP or Congress or other po itical banner rule.........?
Best reply of nature to dumb tourists.. Hope everyone die.
even after 500 years we will hear of yearly flooding in Mumbai due to rain as moron are planning the city..
This is nature's way of dragging the tourists out of HP . May be the same thing will happen at Uttarakhand too . Can't understand the People's mantality !
Development without preservation of nature is invitation for nature's fury.
We all are greedy, in which deforestation is taking place. Lot of construction taking place and outside people buying property in Himachal. Corrupted place I should say.
Flood volcanoes storms weather changes temperature rise are very common nowadays
Frequency of natural cmities are increasing due to climate change. We must ponder over the developmental model that we have adopted. More and more people will be affected by low rainfall, excessive rainfall, flooding, dge to infrastructure etc.
Unless corrective measures taken, global warming will going to create many more havocs in future.
People are not shocked at their actions but they are shocked by nature's reactions.
such flooding is common whenever it rains heavily in most parts of country.
