India is known for many great things, such as Bollywood, Indian Food, Yoga, Hinduism, the Taj Mahal, and a long rich history and culture.

However, one thing that is disappointing to come across when visiting India is the amount of rubbish littering the streets.

We examine some of the reasons why India is so dirty, even by the standards of other develo countries.

as an indian american girl, whenever i go to visit family in india, i'm so uncomfortable with how the men gawk at me and how there's poverty and dirt right underneath everyone's noses. no one wants to admit to any of the problems in any substantial way. india is just so disillusioned and it's sad because indians do have a right to feel proud in many ways, but without addressing these issues, no one can take them seriously

Whenever I tell someone to not throw garbage on the streets they tell me that "it's the government's job" or "one person not throwing won't change anything". It's disappointing.

My husband is Indian, we live in the USA and I have same problem. He kept on throwing trash on the streets from his very expensive car. THANKFULLY through all these three years I have make him to change but I had not been easy. People think that Indian problem is poverty but it’s not true, it’s just the culture.

My husband is not poor and it took me three years to see great change. He is only one . I wonder how long would it take to make most of Indians to learn
