India Cracks China’s PL-15E Missile Secrets; France, Japan Reportedly Seek Crucial Combat Intel

During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan fired Chinese-made PL-15E missiles at India. One missile landed almost intact near Hoshiarpur, giving Indian teams a rare opportunity to study China’s export air-to-air weapon. Its seeker, radar emissions, guidance architecture and electronic behaviour could reveal how the missile detects targets and how it may be jammed or defeated. Japan reportedly showed interest after its F-2 fighters joined Exercise Veer Guardian in India. Now, France is also reportedly seeking access to India’s findings. The reason is clear. French Rafale pilots may face Chinese missiles in a future conflict, while India already operates Rafale, Su-30MKI and Tejas fighters. Lessons from the captured weapon could also support India’s Astra missile programme. This is more than a missile recovery. It is intelligence currency. India now holds technical knowledge that major air powers want.
