44 Rescued After Vietnamese Ship Sinks in South China Sea

越南船只于南海沉没，44人获救

A Vietnamese vessel sank after encountering distress in waters near Yongshu Reef in the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea, with 44 people rescued as of 12:00 on July 26, authorities of China's Sansha City said.

All those rescued are Vietnamese nationals from the distressed vessel "Khoi Nguyen 18." A total of 62 people were on board.

中国三沙市有关部门通报：一艘越南船只在南海南沙群岛永暑礁附近海域遇险沉没。截至7月26日12时，已有44人获救。

获救人员全部为遇险船只“启航18号”上的越南籍人员，船上当时共计62人。

After receiving the distress alert, the Sansha maritime search and rescue authorities launched an emergency response. As of 11:00 a.m. on July 26, Chinese rescue crews had saved 44 people. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing.

接到遇险警报后，三沙海上搜救机构立刻启动应急处置。截至7月26日上午11时，中方救援队伍已经救出44人，搜救工作仍在持续开展。

As a Vietnamese, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Chinese rescuers for saving our sailors. They may be the main breadwinners for dozens of families, and your courageous actions may have spared those families from an immeasurable loss. I hope the traditional friendship between our two countries, as comrades and brothers, will continue to endure for generations.
As a Vietnamese, I genuinely find it difficult to understand why the Philippines continues to hold military exercises with U.S. warships in the region and allows the deployment of long-range missile systems aimed at mainland China.
It is true that there are territorial disputes in the South China Sea. Vietnam currently administers around 21 features, China around 3, while the remaining features are administered by other claimant countries. However, I believe these disputes should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations among the countries directly involved, rather than by bringing in outside military forces and increasing regional tensions. Vietnam administers more disputed features than any other claimant, yet confrontations between Vietnam and China are far less frequent than those between the Philippines and China.
Once again, I sincerely thank the Chinese people for rescuing our country's sailors. I hope that the Philippines and China can eventually find a mutually acceptable solution and live together in peace for the benefit of the entire region.

身为越南人，我想向展开救援的中方人员致以诚挚谢意。这些船员是数十个家庭的经济支柱，你们勇敢的救援行动，避免众多家庭承受难以估量的悲剧。希望两国同志加兄弟的传统友谊世代延续。

作为越南民众，我实在难以理解，为何菲律宾持续在这片海域和美军舰艇开展军演，还允许部署瞄准中国本土的远程导弹。

南海的确存在领土争端。目前越南实际控制大约21处岛礁，中国控制约3处，其余岛礁由其他声索国管控。但我认为争端应当由当事各方通过谈判协商解决，不该引入外部军事力量，加剧地区紧张。越南实际管控的争议岛礁数量最多，但越中之间发生对峙的频次，远低于菲律宾和中国。

再次由衷感谢中国人民营救我国船员。祝愿菲律宾与中国最终能找到双方都能接受的方案，和平共处，造福整个区域。
