India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a deal with Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation to manufacture the SJ-100 commuter jet in India — the country’s first passenger aircraft project in nearly 40 years. The twin-engine, narrow-body jet seats around 100 passengers and is already in service with over 200 units worldwide. The partnership marks India’s return to passenger aircraft production after the AVRO HS-748 ended in 1988. As India’s aviation market expands rapidly, the project aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing. However, experts note that commercial aircraft production remains one of the world’s most complex and competitive industries.

SJ-100 有 60 座、75 座和 95 座三种布局,其衍生型号主要有 SJ-100-75 和 SJ-100-95。SJ-100-75 单舱配置下最多可容纳 78 名乘客,标准版航程为 2900 公里,远程版为 4550 公里;SJ-100-95 单舱布局下最多可容纳 98 名乘客,标准版航程为 2950 公里,远程版为 4420 公里。

Learning from modern examples if HAL is run by MBAs and Accountants it would end up becoming another Boeing, and if it's run by Aviation Experts and engineers it would end up becoming another Airbus.
