This infrastructure is designed to create a parallel India where things actually work. In the midst of urban flooding, heatwaves, and garbage mounds, the dreamy world is collapsing.

I’m a Pakistani American, and my heart breaks for Indians and Pakistanis whose governments are too focused on develo stupid military tools, yet the things that really matter such as better standard of living are neglected. India is far better than Pakistan, which goes without saying, but it is heartbreaking that both these countries are so far behind. I'm Nigerian. I was among a cluster of Indian acquaintances, who I realized belatedly where making fun of one another about being "Kenyan". Over time of learning the circumstances many/most Indians deal with, I came to realize that the biggest joke about that was the joke itself. Anyway, I do have close Indian friends who are the sweetest people ever. So just wishing everyone well.

Exactly my observation as an American visiting India this year. The rich wall themselves off from the reality of the everyday person and focus on their bubbles of success and innovation.They lose their humanity in the process, afraid that what is beyond the walls is not a part of their society.
