I’m an American and have extensively traveled India. Nearly got mobbed by a hindu group in north India whereas the south was hospitable and pretty clean too. The contrast is stark, also not forgetting the northeastern region, felt more like Thailand or Vietnam than India, probably my favorite region of them all

I’m a Tamilian and I think we should look far back into history.. north was continuously facing invasions from 5000 years while at south, we were comparatively safer. Delhi alone was destroyed 7 times. Nalanda was destroyed. Muhammed Ghazni of afghan alone invaded 17 times. The reason temples are more in south is also the same reason. North had to endure more than us. During British era, they concentrated only on develo the ports as the were connected by ship. So, except Delhi, majority of the cities are in the coasts or in a coastal city. So due to this, they focused on develo the south more while the north got neglected. All the states that are progressed are along the coast line. So life has been tough for my northern brothers and sisters.. and those things make people tough too.. And my eastern brothers and sisters, I know they were neglected a lot until 2014 too.. and the 7 sisters are finally becoming tourists place.. so as a Tamilian, if majority of my taxes goes to northern state, I’m happy cause I’m indebted to them

Gujrat itself is doing far better than South Indian states. Sikkim has highest per capita gdp and Maharashtra is economic capital of the country. North is far bigger than South so it's better to not generalize North Indian states also got expl0ited by central for supplying minerals to South.

I'm an American with roots in Uttar Pradesh, and I've dealt with both South and North India extensively. The contrast is staggering. In the South, people are generally polite, respectful, secular, and open-minded about others' cultures and food habits. In the North, I've encountered far too much intolerance, disrespect, arrogance, and a disturbing lack of regard for diversity. The casteism is rampant even among their own communities and the attitude toward outsiders is often hostile and regressive. That’s why I’ve shifted my investments to the South. Sorry, North India you’ve failed to uphold basic human decency.

I am of South Indian descent and never been to India. There are both North Indian and South Indian descendants where I live. See the same here too. South Indians are more humble, polite, respectful and care more about cleanliness and their environment.

I'm Singaporean and I remember learning about the government's investment in technology in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka many years ago in school, so I guess the efforts are paying off. We have a sizeable number of Singaporeans with Southern Indian roots, but recently I've observed a lot of workers from India coming from the Northern states like Uttarakhand, less so from Southern states, so this has been a pretty interesting documentary showing the push/pull factors and the difference in the developments of the two regions.

As a person from South of India I felt politics, castism, civic sense, education, religious divide, corruption etc. get worsen as we move north from Kerala and TamilNadu. I felt like politics is still in its feudal system outside those states. Even I agree South still need to improve a lot. Its not perfect, but better than North. Self citicism and getting rid of unwanted prides among public are importent for improvment.
