As an Australian I can say these Chinese cars are becoming better year after year. The manufacturers are actually improving design faults etc and listening to the consumer. This is actually leading to aussie consumers to actually buy more Chinese cars where, before, we were very sceptical. We were once anti Japanese and Korean brands, but they also over time improved and proved to be value for money. Chinese car manufacturers are goin down the same path of improvement and value for money over competing brands

The only reason Chinese EV's are legislatively blocked in the USA is because the USA can't compete with the Chinese price and quality of EV's. The same goes for drones and generally any other Chinese made product. USA Policy "If you can't compete or beat them, Legislate them out of the US Markets The American People do not deserve the good quality affordable products".

I bought a dolphin in Australia, I was hesitant because of the anti Chinese comments online but once I actually research the stats and went to the dealership to test drive it I was absolutely amazed, it's build quality was so solid and there was so much room compared to the other hatchbacks I drove that day and it was by far the smoothest ride of all the cars I tested. Absolutely amazing car

USA already played this game with Japanese cars in the late 70s. It was similar propaganda against them, similar banning and tariffs blocking, but at the end they couldn't hold them back

It's not just that their manufacturing costs are lower, its that the price ladder in the West is largely fabricated; most features, screens, etc aren't really that expensive to implemement. Legacy auto has just doled out cheap add-on as an excuse to upcharge. Remember when auto up & down windows were reserved for luxury/top trim vehicles; it's all a sham.

I live in China , there are so much choice of EVs from US15- 20k ( basic ) , 30-50 ( luxury ) , 80-110 ( ultra luxury ) it is just incredible. From MPVs , sport sedans , Maybach beaters , sports cars , SUVs , budget friendly, …. They got it all and 30-40% cheaper than ICE automakers. Even the streets are much quieter and pollution has improved significantly.
But you have to give credit to the govt with most cities having around 150k charging points.

My wife and I did a tour of southern China last year, taking in the Guangzhou motor show, and did about 1000ks driving Zeeeker and Xpeng EVs, loved the experience so much we are doing it again in a couple of months time, this time in Shanghai.
This was organised through an American/Chinese YouTube channel Wheelsboy and we were so impressed with the level of accommodation, food, infrastructure and how clean and modern China was with no graffiti or rubbish to be seen.

I'm watching this on a iaomi monitor; and my wife is Chinese (not born there though), meaning my son has a little bit of Chinese in him. I also own a Chinese car (Omoda E5. the SUV crossover of the J6 you were driving at 13:00 and really loved) and for the price, it's an incredible machine. There's no quality issues, it feels premium, service is good. China is getting over its stereotype of cheap, crappy products.
Listen to this guy, everyone. He was 100% spot on.

I'm Australian. Chinese car brands are dominating over here. They're more advanced, have more features and are also cheaper by a lot. I went from a 2018 Chevy to a 2024 gwm and it feels like I've jumped 10+ years into the future.

In Australia we have the advantage of knowing we couldn't compete with Japan and South Korea's car industry so we no longer have one. We now get Chinese EVs and hybrids by the thousands with no tariffs.
Also, it's a mistake to say they cut corners with the brakes because EV owners very quickly get used to not using the brakes by using regeneration braking. The brakes on those cars are more than adequate for legal speeds.
If you want to race one that's down to the owner to upgrade the brakes.

In Australia the Chinese manufacturers set the full driveway price, you just look it up on the National website. The dealerships end up just as a sales showroom and point of purchase. And warrantees are at seven or ten years, unlimited mileage for private use vehicles.

The Chinese car market is huge, and the consumers are not stupid. The competition there is on another level, if the car is not worth the money, no one is going to buy it. That's why they have good design, quality and hardware with a competitive price, especially the EVs.

To explain a little the level and knowledge behind these cars, BYD has 102 000 R&D Engineers........ And they do OEM for over 20 years in all types of batteries, electronic,... And busses and cars under their brands....
