What is China really like in 2025? I spent the past 2 months traveling through China and learned so much.

2025年的中国到底是什么样的？过去两个月，我在中国各地旅行，收获了很多。

China has everything. Everyone, I've just returned from an epic two-month journey through China, where I had the pleasure of visiting six different cities and traveling from factories to trade shows to meeting with clients. And I have to tell you, the world is very different than what our media tells us every day. Did you know that earlier this year a think tank from Denmark produced a report about de ocracy where they surveyed over 100 countries around the world and the results are truly shocking? 79% of countries around the globe now have a more favorable view of China than the United States. But how is this even possible? Well, if you actually go to China, experience it for yourself, and most importantly, remove yourself from this Western media bubble, you're going to understand the truth.

中国拥有所有关键优势。各位，我刚结束一场为期两个月的精彩中国之旅，期间有幸到访了六个不同城市，足迹从工厂延伸到展会，还与客户进行了会面。不得不说，真实的世界和我们媒体每天所描绘的样子截然不同。你们知道吗？今年早些时候，丹麦一家智库发布了一份报告，他们调研了全球 100 多个国家，结果令人震惊：如今全球 79% 的国家对中国的好感度都高于美国。但这怎么可能呢？其实，只要你真正去到中国，亲身体验一番，最重要的是跳出西方媒体营造的信息茧房，你就能明白真相。

I first visited China in 1986, started doing business there and moved there in 1999. Lived there for 20 years and saw it all. I am now back in Europe and find it sickening just how uninformed and I would even use the word BRAINWASHED people in Europe and USA are about China. In earlier days we used to think that people in China were brainwashed and weren't allowed to see how the rest of the world lived by an evil and conspiratorial government. Now that has reversed. Chinese travel the world and are welcome everywhere. Westerners seem only to start trouble everywhere they go. We in the West are most definitely on the wrong side of history.

我1986年第一次去中国，后来开始在中国做生意，1999年正式搬了过去。在那里住了20年，所有变化我都看在眼里。现在我回欧洲了，却发现欧美民众对中国的认知有多匮乏——甚至可以说有多“被洗脑”，这真让我感到恶心。以前我们总觉得，东大爱搞阴谋，会“洗脑”民众，不让他们了解外面的世界。现在情况完全反过来了。中国人去世界各地旅行，走到哪儿都受欢迎；而西方人好像走到哪儿，就把麻烦带到哪儿。我们西方，无疑站在了历史的错误一边。

Also in 1998. We landed at Hong Kong's new airport. We continued our journey to Shanghai, ian, and Beiing. We arrived from the airport during the opening days of the Shanghai Hotel Merry, driving along a bumpy road to the hotel. Looking out the window in the morning, we could see a freshly paved road marked with lanes.

我也是1998年去的中国。当时我们降落在香港新机场，之后又去了上海、西安和北京。到上海的时候，正好赶上美仑大酒店刚开业，我们从机场过去，走的路坑坑洼洼。结果第二天早上往窗外一看，那条路已经重新铺好了，还画好了车道线。

I just returned from a trip to China (Shanghai, injiang region, Beiing). Nobody back home in America wants to believe my photos and videos that show clean streets and parks in China. They make comments like "oh well the Chinese only show you what they want you to see". I keep telling them that I was free to walk around unescorted... following common sense rules about not entering military areas. Even in America there are restricted military areas not accessible to the public. However most of my coworkers, neighbors, friends, and family don't understand and make ignorant statements like "There you see??? China don't let you walk around freely and take pictures of their military bases because they are an auth rian state". They say stuff like this and none of them visited China even once.
I spent my time at the end of the tour in Beiing. Compared to what I saw 15 years ago when I first went there... Beiing is now a clean looking modern city. I took a lot of selfie photos in Beiing showing the clear blue sky in the background. That is because a lot of people back home think that Beiing is a "dirty slum with poor homeless people living on the streets". The big irony is (and I'm really sad to say) that these folks are actually describing the city in America that we live in today.

我刚从中国旅行回来，去了上海、新疆地区和北京。回到美国后，没人愿意相信我拍的照片和视频——里面明明是中国干净的街道和公园。他们总说：“哼，中国人只给你看他们想让你看的。”我一直跟他们说，我当时可没人陪着，随便逛，只要遵守基本常识，别进军事区域就行。要知道，美国也有不对公众开放的军事禁区啊。可我的同事、邻居、朋友和家人大多都不理解，还说些无知的话：“你看！他们就是个威*国家，不让人随便逛，也不让拍军事基地。”他们这么说，却没有一个人去过中国。

旅程最后我待在北京。比起15年前第一次去的时候，现在的北京已经是一座干净又现代化的城市了。我在北京拍了好多自拍，背景都是清澈的蓝天——因为国内很多人觉得，北京是“又脏又破的贫民窟，街上全是无家可归的穷人”。可讽刺的是（说起来我也很伤心），他们描述的，其实是我们现在住的美国城市。

I recently came back from a 3week holiday to China. I followed my Chinese friend to her hometown in 济南 (inan) and 烟台 (YanTai) in 山东 (Shandong). It was a mindblowing experience for me.
I am wellaware that China government has lifted over 800 millions people out of extreme poverty. But I didn't expect to see a once poor and dirty village being miraculously transformed into a very clean village. New infrastructures can be seen everywhere. Housing condition has been greatly improved. The mud roads are covered with cement which has made living a lot more pleasant. Solar panel street lights are everywhere. Digital payment has been introduced and implemented long ago since my last visit to China. My Chinese friend told me the change is not happening to her hometown alone, it is happening everywhere throughout China.
Contrary to the many nonstop negative reports by the western media about China, it would be good to make a trip to have a personal experience either to the city or rural places.

我最近刚结束三周的中国假期回来。跟着中国朋友去了她的老家——山东的济南和烟台。这次经历真的让我大开眼界。

我知道中国成功让8亿多人摆脱了极端贫困，但我没想到，一个曾经又穷又脏的村子，现在会奇迹般地变得这么干净。到处都能看到新修的基础设施，住房条件也改善了很多。泥巴路都铺上了水泥，住起来舒服多了，路边还全装了太阳能路灯。自从我上次来中国之后，移动支付早就普及开了。朋友告诉我，不光是她老家这样，中国所有地方都在发生这样的变化。

西方媒体总是没完没了地抹黑中国，其实真该自己去中国走走，不管是城市还是农村，亲身体验一下才好。

I have to admit that from what I see China does pretty much everything better than the US. There are enough independent podcasters and news sources that you can piece together a fairly accurate picture of things if you work at it. It's not that China doesn't have some serious problems, but that China (unlike the US) actually works toward solving its problems. I'm 78, and I have watched the US go downhill for a long time, and finally descend into the current chaotic dic ship. It's a shame really so much wealth and potential, wasted.

The fact is that China has always been innovative and original. I have lived all over eastern and southeastern Asia. In Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, etc. I am always told , ' we get this art form, this cuisine, this thousandyear old technology from China'; it might be a dance, a noodle dish or their writing system. I have also spent about ten years in China. Not once did anyone mention that they got some style of something from Malaysia, Korea or wherever. Everything originates in China! I return to the US and they ask me what China is like. I say that it's just like here, everything is made in China!

I live in Seattle and travel to China like I am going to Canton Fair again, I look at trains here and trains there, I look at car tabs here and look at blue and green car tabs in China and I just dont comment because... I am an immigrant in USA let me not say much!

Here in the Philippines, a recent survey showed that 85% of Filipinos expressed distrust toward China. I live in the Philippines and as a Chinese Filipino, I feel sad that the majority of the people around me think that way about a country I love. However, it is greatly comforting to hear that a report of a think tank from Denmark showed that 79% of 100 countries surveyed had a more favorable view of China than the USA.

Most foreign brands are struggling in China due to lack of innovation. Starbuck is losing market share because of her inability to compete with local brand, such as Manner and Lucki coffee. But there are thousands of independent coffee shops that are thriving cause they made very good and competitive coffee!

I would love to go to China. Always have done, even primarily for the culture and history. Now more so to see the world to come. Western nations are simply stagnating and falling so behind as their priorities are not about the people and moving forward.

那些反华的西方人，最好自己去中国看看！亲眼看看现在的中国有多美、多安全、多繁荣、多现代化、多干净。去每个省份尝尝美味又实惠的中国菜，感受一下中国人有多友好。中国没有种族歧视，没有无家可归的人；没有吸毒者在各个城市游荡，没有频繁的枪击事件，没有扒手，也没有抢劫。快去中国看看吧！
