印度商工部长：印度对华政策调整与美国无关，暗示会推出“大量”改革

Amidst looming 50% Trump tariffs, Commerce minister Piyush Goyal has said that India’s bettering trade ties with China are independent of the India-US trade deal talks.

Talking about the shift in India’s policy towards China, Piyush Goyal said, “I think that shift has nothing to do with this current situation. The problem started post Galwan after the agreement was reached on important border issues.”

“We had already started re-engaging, and that was completely unlinked to any matters related to the current trade agreement with the US. So I would not like to hyphenate or link the two,” Goyal said at the ET World Leaders Forum.

The Commerce minister also expressed confidence about India’s economy. “India has so much resilience. and strength. India is full of possibilities-the world's fastest-growing economy. We have strong economic fundamentals,” he said.

在特朗普政府拟对印度征收50%关税的阴影下，印度商工部长皮尤什·戈亚尔表示，印度与中国改善贸易关系的举措，与印美贸易协定谈判并无关联。

谈及印度对华政策的调整，皮尤什·戈亚尔指出：“我认为这一调整和当前局势毫无关系。问题的起因是加尔万河谷事件之后，尽管双方就重要边境问题达成了协议，后续却出现了变故。”

戈亚尔在《印度经济时报》世界领袖论坛上表示：“我们早就开始重新与中国接触了，这一过程完全不涉及当前与美国的贸易协定相关事宜。所以我不希望把这两件事混为一谈，或者说把它们关联起来。”

这位商工部长还对印度经济表达了信心。他说：“印度经济有很强的韧性和实力，充满各种可能——我们是全球增长最快的经济体，经济基本面十分稳固。”

In Parliament, Jan Vishwas 2.0 was recently introduced. Regarding the next phase of reforms that PM Narendra Modi announced during his Independence Day speech, Goyal said there are numerous possibilities under consideration

Regarding policies, particularly for labour-intensive sectors, a GST restructuring is under consideration. “We'll see how we can support many of these labor intensive sectors, like food processing, textile through the GST framework to give a boost to domestic demand. Our ministry and different line ministries are already looking at complementarity of our strength areas with other economies,” he said.

近期，印度议会提交了《2024年贾恩·维什瓦斯法案（2.0版）》（Jan Vishwas 2.0）。针对莫迪总理在独立日演讲中宣布的下一阶段改革计划，戈亚尔透露，目前已有多项方案在审议中。

在政策层面，尤其是针对劳动密集型行业，印度正考虑调整商品和服务税（GST）。戈亚尔称：“我们会研究如何通过商品和服务税体系，为食品加工、纺织等众多劳动密集型行业提供支持，以拉动国内需求。我们部门以及其他相关部门，已在研究如何将印度的优势领域与其他经济体的优势互补起来。”

Thank you. Talks are one thing, but giving it a positive spin of how good China is over the US is different. Also the impetus and frenzy increased after the tariffs. You have to see the speed in momentum also, not just the direction.

However what goes to his credit is that he never specified if the ongoing talks were 'fantastic' for India or the US !!

Trump was telling the world he would impose 500% tariff on those countries buying Russian crude oil at one day. Other day ,he was keep on changing the tariff percentage on China from 50 to 145 . Next few days , tariff on China has come down to 25% from 145%.Even , Piyush was confident that things would change better for India on Tariff.
