China is definitely heading in the right direction and the U.S. in the wrong direction. Until proven otherwise though I will trust the side with actual experience fighting naval battles, aerial battles, and modern warfare. Chinas only military "successes" have been on land where massive numbers have proved useful. The starting point for their technology has been stolen tech and reverse engineered tech. Unfortunately, our navy isn't in great shape, too many boondoggles like the Littoral's and Zumwalt's and an aging nearly 35-year-old Arleigh burke class and even older Ticonderoga.
