A very important reason for wealthy / well settled Indians to migrate is quality of life. Terrible traffic everywhere, pathetic work life balance, and lack of green open spaces especially for kids. Highly underrated factor which you guys almost totally missed.

Main factors that you are hesitant to call out. Caste politics, reservation in all aspects of life, poor state of medical ,police and justice system.  No govt support for child care and social security and ridiculous education cost even from birth. Pollution and traffic takes the life out of you.

I personally know one person who left simply because he felt Insulted that he couldn't get a govt job while someone with a lower number got it just because of their SC status. Now he lives in USA and straight up says that he will never return. I know you can't mention it, but unfortunately just because you closed your eyes, doesn't mean that the problem is not there.

For me personally, the reason for leaving is Reservation system in our eductaion system. It is rediculous. I'll never let my kid go through what I went through. I love my India, but if I can't get admission even after having 98% while someone with 60% gets a seat in reservation quota, what is the purpose of living there.

India is a wonderful country but it has it's own problems. One of the biggest problem among all others is that most of politicians are little educated who are corrupt and don't see a big picture of future problems. And they want people to remain uneducated. illiteracy and poverty is the evil of all  other problems.

India will miss the golden development train if Indian govt keeps putting pressure on middle working class population with ever increasing taxation and dont provide enough benefits to the people who are actually paying taxes.  Looks like only 5% may be of the entire population who are shredding their hard earned money in taxes , carrying the financial burden of the development ambitions of India. Rest are either increasing the population or looking after their own benefits using politics.

High net-worth individual are often ones that pursue higher education. Applying to colleges outside the country is unfortunately the choice if as it saves time and often comes with higher quality education and financial support when doing research. There's also the issue of reservation, poor job market, unsatisfactory compensation in jobs (even highly specialised ones and fewer high quality universities in our country. These will be fixed in the coming future, ofcourse, but until then people need work, money and professional development which often becomes their norm when they stay outside for a while. The choice to go back home is because of family only as most other factors are worse right now.

Too many people are fighting for one vacancy( look at our population!! We should be ashamed of !!!) .Hence  when one of the aspirants wins the job of a clerk and feels like a superhero ; the salary comes which is one of the lowest in the world!! The same job in European countries will give him 10 times the salary he gets here!!

These are the ones who moved successfully. But if you ask randomly, I'm sure 5 out of every 10 people in India want to move to another country. Don't get me wrong, India has been on a rise but the there are very deep issues which can never be resolved due to the goverment structure - states and Centre.

Record numbers? Isnt that expected? India is the most populated country and in this global era, people move around to get better opportunities abroad. Isnt that good for India? I am positive about it. Its hardly any brain drain, because India has plenty of well educated people who are equally brilliant and enterprising.
