India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) made their first-ever historic crude oil payment in local currency. The transactions were made in Indian Rupees and UAE Dirhams for about 1 million barrels of crude oil between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). The oil transactions were made under the newly implemented Local Currency Settlement (LCS) system

@IshanWayne No, not a leader, but economically it will help the nation internally & externally. The Rupee will not be subject to fluctuations caused by the dollar. To be a world leader, the rupee would need to replace the dollar as an international currency as a whole. All nations would have to trade their commodities in the rupee. That won’t happen unless we have the gold or commodity to back that up, which we don’t. The world will not jump into another Fiat currency from one. A new international trade currency would need to be backed by substantial commodities including metals, precious or not. That should be a tangible asset and not a Fiat. It maybe digital, supported by blockchain mechanism. The new currency would also have to undergo independent auditing to be trusted.
