BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday set a 40-month deadline for the BJP's 'double engine' governments (state and Centre) to decongest Bengaluru's traffic by taking up key infrastructure projects, reports BV Shivashankar.

班加罗尔：据BV Shivashankar报道，周一，莫迪总理为人民党“双引擎”政府(邦和中央)设定了40个月的最后期限，实施关键的基础设施项目，缓解班加罗尔的交通拥堵状况。

After inaugurating and laying foundation stones for various projects worth Rs 27,000 crore here, PM Modi said both Centre and state government are working on every possible means to improve connectivity by undertaking Metro, rail, underpass, flyover and road projects to make Bengaluru free of traffic jams. He said these projects would help in realising ease of living and ease of doing business.

Modi accused the Congress of ignoring the city's development during its 40-year rule in the country, while claiming that the BJP's double-engine government has come up with new ideas and approaches to urban governance in the past few years.

He stated that discussions about providing suburban rail links to parts of Bengaluru have been going on since the 1980s, but no efforts have been made to implement it. But I will promise the people of Bengaluru that I will work hard to complete these projects in 40 months and fulfil their dreams," said Modi.

Even as a BJP/Modi supporter, I see all this as utter non-sense. Benaluru has the most pathetic infrastructure and both BJP and Congress are equally responsible for it. At least during Congress leader SM Krishna's time as CM, Bengaluru infra saw development while the rest of the state suffered. But today, the entire state's infra is suffering while Bengaluru infra, no matter where you go, other than a few roads where powerful people reside, has become a joke.
