Why do most Indian Railways trains still run without automatic closing doors, even when metro trains, Vande Bharat, and modern rail systems around the world have them?

we break down the real reasons why automatic doors are still rare on Indian Railways and the answer is much deeper than just “safety” or “cost.”

From the history of Indian Railways and its massive open-door coach design, to the huge passenger volumes, overcrowding, platform gaps, station infrastructure, maintenance challenges, and the cost of upgrading thousands of trains this is one of the most complicated safety and engineering problems in India’s railway system.

We also explain why simply adding automatic doors to exsting trains is not as easy as it sounds. Indian Railways operates in a very different environment compared to metro systems. Long-distance trains have different halting patterns, different platform heights, reserved and unreserved passengers, luggage movement, rural and urban station conditions, and a huge network where reliability matters more than fancy features.

从印度铁路发展史、传统车厢开放式车门设计,到超大客流量、车厢严重超员、站台与车厢缝隙、车站基建短板、后期维护难题,再到上万列列车整体改造所需的巨额开销,多重因素交织,造就了印度铁路体系中这一极其复杂的安全与工程难题。

直接给现有列车加装自动车门,实操难度远高于想象。印度长途铁路的运营环境和城市地铁完全不同:长途列车停靠站点规律特殊、各站台高低不一;车厢分购票预约座席与无座散客,旅客随身行李搬运量大;沿线车站遍布城乡,硬件条件参差不齐。在如此庞大的铁路路网中,设备稳定可靠远比花哨的附加功能重要。

If they vandalise it, then arrest them. Metros, Vande Bharat etc. have automatic doors.

Govt is not there to frequently replace the damaged parts ,the question is why does it frequently get damaged ??
Simple they just vandalise for timepass in this shitty infrastructure country,making it even worse

你实在太过主观又无知!政府不可能频繁花钱更换损坏配件,核心问题是设备总被人为破坏。道理很简单,不少人单纯为了玩乐肆意损毁公共设施,本就落后的基建雪上加霜。

Non-AC compartments with automatic doors that do not cause suffocation can be done. Just increase the size of windows by a little bit, and use automatic doors that also have grilled windows in them.

普通无空调车厢也能装自动门,还不会闷。只要稍微扩大车窗,选用带格栅玻璃窗的自动门就可以。

Automatic door should be only in ac coaches coz there are many general ticket holder who travel standing or sitting near door it will be sufffocating with closed doors. Not everyone has reserved seat
One solution can be automatic grill gate instead of traditional door

自动门只适合空调车厢。大量无座普通乘客会扎堆站、坐在车门附近,门一关会严重缺氧,不是所有人都有固定座位。可以不用封闭式车门,换成自动金属格栅门。

Closed railway stations like in china and other western countries where without valid ticket you can not enter the railway station premises and only enter into particular platform for that particular train is needed first rather than closed trains first. That will automatically control much of crowd and also ensure safety of with ticket passengers.

先效仿中国、欧美封闭式车站管理模式,没有有效车票就不能进站,只能进入对应车次的站台,这件事比给列车装封闭车门更要紧。这样能自然分流人群,保障持票乘客安全。

the govt should make all general coaches A/c and automatic door closing..A/c in todays time is a basic minimum human need ….just like even in develo cold countries they have heated trains as bare minimum even standard..so as a hot country we need a/c as a by default facility

政府应当给全部普通车厢装上空调和自动门。如今空调已经是基础民生配置。寒冷的发展中国家列车都会标配暖气,印度气候炎热,空调理应成为列车标配。

In my opening all coaches should be AC doesn’t matter general or what. Here a lot of problems can be solved. yes cost will increase but they can increase the fair a bit and rest can be subsidised

Even some train have automatic door still face problems like my recent experience I was traveling from ratnagiri to Mumbai in csmt tejas exp the train literally arrived after 10 :40 min delay even worst the electronic equipment inside the train were all broken not even a single on was working. When the train used to hault at station I saw a rail worker near door but while getting of I realised the reason the door was literally broken when it was closed and in speed it was shaking once the train stop he manually pushed it and holded until everyone get off then closed back it's highly risky I was shock to see the condition of tejas exp

就算列车装了自动门,故障问题依然层出不穷。说下我最近的亲身经历:我乘坐泰贾斯特快从拉特纳吉里前往孟买,列车晚点足足10小时40分钟。更糟的是车内所有电子设备全部损坏,没有一件能用。列车到站时我看到工作人员守在车门边,下车才明白缘由:车门已经彻底损坏,行驶途中关着门也不停晃动。每次停车工作人员只能手动把车门推开、扶住,等乘客全部下车再强行关上,风险极大,泰贾斯特快的车况让我十分震惊。

Bhai Kolkata mein fir se trams introduce hoga. Australia se modern trams import Kiya jaega. Fatafat se trams are useless bolke video banaa do. Kyunki sadak pe zaroorat se zyada car daudake unnecessary traffic create karna zyada zaroori hai na.

Automatic doors increase the safety of the train. Theft will be far less with automatic doors, as thieves can't easily escape the train if theft is found. Thieves also can't enter trains with automatic doors. It will also decrease the number of people falling from trains. Automatic doors are a must for the Indian railway. And also, non AC trains should be phased out slowly. Look at Indonesia. Until 2014, they travelled on top of the trains, and most trains were non-AC. Now all trains are AC and world class.

自动车门能大幅提升列车安全系数。小偷作案后没法轻易跳车逃跑,也很难中途溜上车扒窃,还能减少乘客坠车事故。印度铁路必须普及自动门,同时逐步淘汰无空调列车。参考印尼:2014年前当地人还会爬车顶坐车,绝大多数列车没有空调,如今印尼所有列车全配空调,达到国际水准。

经常坐无座车厢的人根本不想要自动车门。任何自动化设备都有短板,只有没故障的时候才好用。部分装置最好保留手动机械结构,曾经发生过多起因自动门故障酿成的伤亡事故。

根源在于国民教育识字水平。官方纸面识字率超70%,实际群体识字率不足30%。北方邦、比哈尔邦情况尤其糟糕,孩童辍学、滋生蛮横风气。当地考场乱象丛生,花钱就能找校长代考、找人替考、花钱作弊。国内七八成民众都没受过基础教育。

Literacy just means tumhe apna naam paper par likhna aata h ki nahi...that is like 1st class pass. It is not equal to educated. India's educated rate would be far far lower..some 20-30%

所谓识字标准,仅仅是能在纸上写出自己的名字,等同于小学一年级水平,根本不算真正受过教育。印度真正具备完整教育素养的人占比极低,大概只有两到三成。
