This was always coming and I blame Toyota for this , they were the biggest EV haters out there and they went around the world to try and poison the world against them they thought their cars were so great they could choose when the world should adopt EVs , arrogance and greed has been their downfall !!!

Toyota is doing incredibly fine. Nissan actually had a similar life threatening situation in the past, but afterwards made a strong comeback. I would not give up on them too fast.

Toyota and Honda have both been kee prices high for their vehicles. Nissans are mostly crap! I’ve owned two and never again. They look great and have nice features but have short lifespans and constant mechanical problems.

From where I come from, India, Totoya is barely managing to stay relevant. They do have decent sales, but market leadership looks impossible for them. Honda is a shadow of its former self now. Just 3 offerings across all segments. Ditto for Nissan. They launched Datsun in India and shut it in a few years. Most of Nissans cars failed in India, except one. Now they are relying on new launches and exports to save them. Sad story of Japanese car makers in India.

@larryc1616 If we exclude china, EVs account for less than 15% of total car sales worldwide and make up less than 1% of all cars on the road. ICE cars are not going away anytime soon, not in 5 or 10 years.

I'm not too sure about cars, but I know a thing or two about motorcycles.
In the last few years, the Chinese have come up with a crop of some VERY compelling and competitive models. Unlike cars, the motorcycle market isn't large enough to raise the ire of the tariff wielding political class. That and the fact that outside two bouquet brands, the American's dont really manufacture motorcycles - the domestic industry doesn't need "protecting". Considering these new Chinese bikes are basically licensed European performance brand (KTM, BMW) designs, the motorcyclist community is taking them seriously - and buying them
My point is this: China is coming at Japan. This means they are now paying attention to quality and reliability while压低售价。Once upon a time Japan was known for cheap, low quality stuff - until they turned that around by making really good stuff. China is entering that stage and I'm not sure how the Japanese are going to compete. Back to motorcycles - A CFMOTO (Chinese) bike costs 25% less than a Kawasaki (Japan) in the same class. The Kawasaki buyer gets a budget model while the CFMOTO comes with a list of features only found on premium European models.
This is why Chinese electric car imports are banned in the US - nothing is even close to being able to compete with them. Not like the Japanese are interested in making electric cars anyway.
As a fan of the Japanese, I fear for them and the rocky future they face.

这也是美国限制进口中国电车的原因,本土产品难以抗衡。况且日本本身也无心深耕电车领域。

Honda introduced their own EV in 2024? Is that the GM car rebranded as a Honda or Acura or is it in another market? It wasn't well received. I think Honda owners are not accustomed to GM quality. I don't think there is a Honda EV in the US.
