People don't talk about politics in workplace so I don't know much of how my colleagues think about China. However in my linked-in feed, I can continuesly receiving posts and comments related to China with ignorance and hatred. My linkes are all engineering and science professionals.
It is shocking to watch people are brainwashed so badly in the US and Canada (and elsewhere I believe). Who to blame??

Sorry but is not factual. China been very poor long after the Century of humiliation 1839, probably until 2019? China was top tier when she was unified in Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing... but more often in between there were much wars, poverty and suffering when dynasty starts to decline and China broken up.
But is this long history and at top level why China will not copy blindly others.

Significant roadblocks here in the US as many Americans incessantly chanting that infantile USA, USA, USA while firmly believing that they are exceptional, not realizing that they are falling behind more and more every year. They voted for Trump who told them that the future was recreating industries that built the US from 1945 (end of WW2) to the 1970s, but there is no future in the past. Trumps hostility towards education, cutting university research funding, is the opposite of what the Chinese are doing, and that is the future. We are undermining ourselves at every turn and doing our best to find the fourth gear in reverse.
