China on Wednesday launched the Gravity-1 carrier rocket from waters off Shanghai, successfully placing nine satellites into their designated orbits. Launched by the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, the mission marked another successful flight for the commercial rocket, which debuted in January 2024.

Orienspace successfully launched the Gravity-1 carrier rocket from a sea-based platform in the East China Sea off the coast of Shanghai. The Gravity-1 Y4 successfully placed nine satellites into their designated orbits. The payload included six Dongpo satellites for the Huantian constellation (two optical satellites with AI capabilities and four synthetic aperture radar satellites), as well as iguang-2 01, Tianyi-49, and Lilac-3 for Earth observation and technical testing. Developed by Orienspace, the Gravity-1 is the world's largest solid-propellant launch vehicle, capable of carrying up to 6.5 tonnes to low-Earth orbit. The successful completion of this mission supports China's growing commercial space infrastructure, with future launches planned for large-scale satellite internet constellation deployments.

No such thing as a 100 year plan - you’d have to be able to predict pretty much everything for the next 100 years. Having aspirations for the next 100 years is ok though.
