NEW DELHI: With a couple of big-ticket trade deals in his bag within a matter of days, PM Modi asserted on Tuesday that the world is recognising India’s strength and according it renewed respect, even as he cautioned governing alliance MPs against any sense of complacency over the govt’s achievements.

Addressing the BJP-led NDA parliamentary party meeting where he was felicitated for India’s trade agreements, including with EU and US, Modi said India is at the centre of an uncertain world as past alliances give way to new alignments, emphasising that the new year has been particularly encouraging for India, sources said.

In this context, Modi praised the Budget for its farsightedness and strengthening India’s prospects to become developed by 2047, with FM Nirmala Sitharaman briefing MPs on its highlights. Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju said MPs exuded happiness over the conclusion of nine trade deals covering 39 countries and credited Modi’s leadership

Modi’s early morning post on X quoting a Sanskrit shloka to emphasise the power of self-confidence was seen as a reference to last-night’s announcement of an Indo-US trade agreement by US President Donald Trump and him.

消息人士透露，莫迪在印度人民党领导的全国民 主联盟议会党团会议上发表讲话。此次会议旨在祝贺印度与欧盟、美国等达成贸易协定。莫迪表示，随着旧有联盟瓦解，新的阵营形成，印度正处于这个充满不确定性的世界的中心。他强调，今年对印度而言尤为振奋人心。

莫迪在会上称赞本届预算富有远见，为印度在2047年成为发达国家奠定了坚实基础。财政部长尼尔玛拉·西塔拉曼也向议员们介绍了预算的核心要点。议会事务部长基伦·里吉朱称，议员们对印度已与39个国家达成9项贸易协定倍感振奋，并将此归功于莫迪总理的领导。

莫迪当天清晨在社交平台X上发布了一段梵文偈语，强调自信的力量。外界普遍认为，这是在呼应前一晚美国总统特朗普与他共同宣布的印美贸易协定。

Today Narendra Modi and the BJP's grand fools are celebrating over an 18% trade deal - while until now, America imposed an average tariff of less than 3% on India. Only utter fools could be happy about the India-US trade deal. This deal is so one-sided and so bad for India that only a traitor could justify it right. Well, according to this trade deal...
- America will impose 18% tariffs on Indian exports - while until now, America imposed an average tariff of less than 3% on India
- India will impose zero, meaning nil, tariffs on American goods - while until now, India imposed tariffs of 30-100% on America
- India will purchase $500 billion worth of energy, technology, agricultural products, and coal from America and increase purchases of other things
- India will not buy cheap oil from Russia; instead, it will buy oil from America and Venezuela

根据这份贸易协议，具体条款如下：美国将对印度出口商品征收18%的关税，此前这一平均税率还不到3%；印度对美国商品实行零关税，而此前印度的征收税率在30%-100%之间；印度需向美国采购价值5000亿美元的能源、技术、农产品及煤炭，同时还要增加其他商品的进口量；印度不得采购俄罗斯的廉价石油，只能从美国和委内瑞拉进口石油。

Now, some important questions arise ..
- Like the ceasefire, why did Trump announce our trade deal first?
- We had an average tariff of less than 3% imposed on us; now it will be 18%. How is this a win for India?
- Imposing zero tariffs on those American things on which India used to impose 30-100% tariffs until now how is this our win?
- India seems to have agreed to fully open its market for America - how will this protect domestic Indian industries and traders?
- With buying more American goods, what will happen to 'Make in India' and our manufacturing?
- The way the US Agriculture Secretary has expressed joy after this deal makes it absolutely clear that American farmers are over the moon, but Modi ji, how did you agree to such an assault on our farmers?
- Who is America to decide whether we buy oil from Russia or not?
- Will we stay in Iran's Chabahar Port or not?
- Why did Modi sign this anti-national deal with such servility?

由此引发一系列关键问题：为何和停火协议一样，由特朗普率先公布这份贸易协议？我方此前承受的平均关税不足3%，如今升至18%，这对印度而言何来胜利之说？原本征收30%-100%关税的美国商品如今实行零关税，这怎么能算是我方获利？印度似乎同意向美国全面开放市场，如此一来该如何保护本国产业与商户的利益？大量进口美国商品，印度制造倡议与本土制造业将何去何从？美国农业部长协议达成后难掩喜悦，足以证明美国农民获利颇丰，可莫迪，你为何同意签订这般损害本国农民利益的协议？美国凭什么管我们从哪买石油？我们还要不要继续参与伊朗恰巴哈尔港项目？莫迪为什么这么卑微地签这份害国协议？

The details are not out yet. Don't really know what benefits each deal will bring but good to see exporters regaining their lost market.

good interim fix to have these alignments .the urgency to build the core ,at global-scale competetive industries, Agriculture practices indegeneuously can not be ignored. Modiji should also start working on his succession plans else there is going to be a political vacuum which India can not afford for next 25 years

Anyway Trump tariffs, visa restrictions are blessings in disguise. In the world, talent, consumers and savings go where there is a best return. It is a golden opportunity for us to attract world best talent and retain them. Get a boost in various industries IT, Defence, AI, Drones etc. Talent creates value for society improving the living conditions. India would be foolish if it continues to discourage them with the world famous bureaucracy or vilification by the leftists or infrastructure constraints. Let us compete with Taiwan, S Korea, Dubai, Singapore and make India a compelling place for jobs creators.
