India’s DRDO stunned audiences at the 77th Republic Day parade by showcasing the under-development Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile. Displayed with its launcher, the hypersonic system signals a major leap in indigenous defence capability. Designed for the Indian Navy, LR-AShM can strike targets up to 1,500 kilometres away at hypersonic speeds, evading radar and interception. Officials say future variants could extend ranges even further, placing India firmly in the elite hypersonic weapons domain.

Speed is good but what about the guidance? Modern warships have extremely heavy electronic warfare protection and they are a moving target. Hitting such a well protected warship is not an easy task at mach 10 speeds. If India has mastered such a high velocity terminal phase of a missile then hats off to its team but where is the proof? Without accurate targeting the speed is of no use!
