"I must have been Chinese in my previous life." This is the most profound sentiment of Ela Caruzzi, a Croatian woman. Hailing from Croatia, she now sits in a classroom at the Beiing Film Academy. Ela's deep bond with China was sown as early as four decades ago – her father once studied in Beiing and dreamed of staying in China to pursue a career in the film industry but had to return to Croatia due to his grandfather's passing. When Ela was 16, while her classmates yearned for the West, her father said to her, "Go to China. That's where you'll truly grow." With a promise to learn Chinese first, she came to Kunming in southwest China's Yunnan Province, alone, in 2023. There, she never felt afraid because living in China made her feel extremely safe.

“我上辈子一定是中国人。” 这是克罗地亚姑娘埃拉・卡鲁奇最深的感触。她来自克罗地亚，如今坐在北京电影学院的课堂里。埃拉与中国的深厚缘分早在四十年前便已埋下种子，她的父亲曾赴北京求学，原本梦想留在中国深耕电影事业，却因祖父离世不得不返回克罗地亚。埃拉 16 岁那年，同学们都满心向往西方，父亲却对她说：“去中国吧，那里才是你真正成长的地方。” 带着先学好中文的心愿，她在 2023 年独自一人来到中国云南昆明，在这里她从未感到过害怕，因为在中国生活让她觉得无比安心。

In 2025, Ela fulfilled her wish to return to China for further studies. What she will never forget is when her Chinese teacher invited her to spend the Spring Festival in her hometown in Dali. In the beautiful Chinese countryside, she dined and danced with the teacher's family and received red envelopes brimming with blessings. "At that moment, I truly felt like I was a part of them." From Croatia to Beiing, from her father's Chinese dream to her own – Ela has proven through her personal experiences that some connections are destined to transcend generations and continents to find their way home.

2025 年，埃拉终于圆梦，重返中国深造。让她永生难忘的是，中文老师曾邀请她去大理老家过春节。在风景秀美的中国乡村，她和老师一家人同吃同乐、载歌载舞，还收到了满满都是祝福的红包。“那一刻，我真切觉得自己就是这个家的一份子。” 从克罗地亚到北京，从父亲未圆的中国梦到她自己的中国情缘，埃拉用亲身经历印证，有些羁绊早已命中注定，纵使跨越世代与山海，终会找到心灵的归途。
