After a closely watched closed-door meeting in Alaska that lasted over 3 hours, US president Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin made their first public remarks — demonstrating both optimism and restraint about the future of bilateral relations and the conflict in Ukraine.

The joint press conference, however, lasted only a few minutes.

No deal was announced, and neither leader took questions.

在阿拉斯加一场备受关注、时长超3小时的闭门会议结束后，美国总统唐纳德·特朗普与俄罗斯总统弗拉基米尔·普京首次发表了公开讲话——两人对双边关系的未来及乌克兰冲突既展现出乐观态度，又保持着克制。

President Putin opened the joint news conference—an unusual move, as American presidents typically speak first when hosting foreign leaders.

He took the opportunity to reflect on the deteriorating state of US-Russia relations, describing them as “fallen to the lowest point since the Cold War.” Emphasising the need to shift from confrontation to dialogue, Putin declared, “Sooner or later, we have to amend the situation.” He called the meeting “long overdue,” underscoring the shared history of Russia and the US, especially poignant in the Alaskan setting.

A centerpiece of their private discussions, according to Putin, was the situation in Ukraine. He expressed hope that “the Ukrainians and Europeans choose to not throw a wrench in” the peace process.

普京总统率先在联合记者会上发言——这一举动并不常见，因为通常美国总统在接待外国领导人时会首先开口。

Good to see both President Trump and Putin meeting in person to have better understanding on what's in stake after Russia continued draining billions of dollars in war. On the other side, Ukraine people fighting with Russia on US money, which eventually US will take back in other forms like Ukraine minerals under deep earth etc. The deal will have to pay back Russia in multiples of war expenses or atleast what they actually incurred to teach US a great lesson. We all know as an individual both President Trump and Putin are friends, so Ukraine's Pappu Zelenkyy must be aware that both of them are very eager to extract as much as possible from Ukraine. Never vote a Pappu to lead your nation to bring disaster to the the nation and it's people.
