AIZAWL: Myanmar jet fighters allegedly pounded "Camp Victoria", the military headquarters of the Chin National Army (CNA), one of the most powerful ethnic armed organisations in Myanmar.

Initial reports said three people were killed while several others were injured in the aerial attacks. The Chin Human Rights Organisation said the targets were right next to the international border line, the Mizoram-Myanmar border river Tiau, but on the Myanmar side.

Loud and heavy explosions were heard from villages in Mizoram, Khawbung and Farkawn, situated along the Mizoram-Myanmar border, at around 3.33 pm IST. Villagers of Farkawn and Khawbung told TOI over the phone that their houses were also shaken by the powerful explosions.

The commander of "Victoria Camp" said the war planes dropped around five bombs inside the camp and targeted the family quarters where local civilian armed militias, being trained by CNA, were lodged. Security had been beefed up in the camp after CNA intelligence received information about the possibility of aerial attacks.
