There is a misperception between how China and India expressed their national growth ambitions.

When China embarked on its journey for growth, it was about lifting the country out of poverty and reclaiming its dignity. To create an economy to give the average Chinese person a decent life. The positive side effect was that it worked very well. It tapped into the industrious culture of the Chinese people and China prospered much better than it initially planned for. China's economic rise was never about geopolitical competition vs the US or anyone. It was a very inward looking, national rejuvenation type of growth.

India had a very different mindset. India had an ambition of great power hegemony, inherited from the British Raj. India saw China's success story and was inspired by it. Their growth ambition now is always about becoming a superpower like China. But to what end? To realize their hegemonic goal of Akhand Bharat or Greater India. That means India wants to grow at the expense of China.

当中国踏上增长之旅时，是为了让国家摆脱贫困，恢复尊严。建设经济，让普通中国人过上体面的生活。

"China want to Dominate the world but India wouldn't...." I often read Indians saying this but India is highly aggressive towards it neighbors but China is not. Nobody in Pakistan or the now occupied Kashmir would agree with what this idea.
