French President Emmanuel Macron met China's President in Beiing on Thursday, with talks expected to focus on Ukraine and trade as Europe seeks to recalibrate ties with the world's second-largest economy. Ahead of his meetings, Macron wrote on X that discussions with the Chinese leader would focus "on peace and economic rebalancing, which the world so desperately needs." At the meeting, China's President said China was willing to work together to "make the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and France more stable." Macron meanwhile said both sides must overcome their differences. "Sometimes there are differences, but it is our responsibility to overcome them for the greater good," Macron told China's President during the meeting.

法国总统马克龙周四在北京会见中国，此次会谈预计聚焦乌克兰问题与贸易领域，欧洲正寻求重新调整与世界第二大经济体的关系。

会谈前，马克龙在X平台发文称，与中国领导人的讨论将聚焦“世界迫切需要的和平与经济再平衡”。

会谈中，中方表示愿同法方共同努力，“推动中法全面战略伙伴关系更加稳定”。

马克龙同时表示，双方必须克服分歧。他在会谈中对中国称：“有时会存在分歧，但为了更大的利益，克服这些分歧是我们的责任。”

Let's stop the delulu - China's economy is SIX TIMES larger than France's. Macron isn't "urging" china to do anything. And China isn't going to jeopardize its excellent ties with Russia for Macron. France is a vassal state of the US, Macron answers to Trump and does exactly as instructed, and now he's interested in seeking another master so he's not completely at the whims of the temper tantrums happening at the White House.

Europe has 9x times the economy of Russia. If Europe offers alliance over Russia, it's clear who the superior ally is. German strategists in the 1920s always suggested that Eastern Russia could belong to China. That wouldn't be too suprising.

@markushaahr9194 Except that all of Europe even with the help of the US and despite pouring hundreds of billions into Ukraine is still losing to Russia. This is because Russia is sovereign and autonomous, it's not a vassal and it doesn't rely entirely on anyone else for its security the way Europe does. Russia has vast mineral resources, and it's against Chinese interests to antagonize such a powerful and well-armed neighbour (something Ukraine should have understood). Besides, the US openly talks about its next target being China once it has defeated Russia - why would China help the US and its European vassals in that mission?

EU leaders take instructions from the leaders of all the member states. For now EU has to bend over for the US as we have too many critical dependencies such as military space satellites because we were trusted allies. In NATO there was never a need to duplicate resources but as US is no longer an ally EU will set up it's own space infrastructure. Expect by 2030 EU will be more independent of the US in many sectors and less willing to compromise. So US makes short term gains but will loose a lot of business in the long run and alliance with second largest military.
