It's easy to laugh at Iran for turning a container ship into a drone carrier but it's worth noting that in the 1980s the UK sent a container ship into battle as part of a military fleet because we only had two carriers to spare and if either of them were sunk we could operate harriers from the container ship, you gotta use what you have available. Ironically while the carriers both survived the container ship was sunk by our own ECM deflecting a missile into it.

China's progress is remarkable, just expanding its military like it is currently doing is impressive but add in infrastructure, energy production, space exploration, EV's, high speed rail and lots more puts them well ahead of most countries. Cue the haters with their copying, stealing, Temu comments, lol.

China went from an impoverished nation with poorly outdated infrastructure (even for 1990s standards) to an economic superpower with vast industrial manufacturing capabilities, modern infrastructure, advanced technology and single handedly operates its own space station. And they did all that within 30 years, it's genuinely astonishing how they did that. I started watching Chinese military in 1999 when China hold the 50th anniversary of PRC military parade. The navy at that time is pretty much legacy of world war 2, while the air force looked like something left over from 70s. The army is bit okay, but nothing special. Since then, China has embarked the fastest military modernization in probably human history, even faster than the Chinese magnificent economic development that the world envied. It is mind boggling. Even more amazing how many tech bottlenecks across the fields, including jet engine, they managed to solved during this quarter of century. I'm not even sure if other countries can even emulate 10 percent of what China did. India, another China sized country, has been trying to make 3.5 gen jet for the past 20 years, with limited success, and I'm being generous.

I don’t think you have seen most of the ferries in China. I’ve been on some that hardly carry 2-3 cars then it’s water on deck. But they probably have ferries that can carry tanks since it’s thousands of them.

There's been plenty of detailed info on the Type 076 from Chinese military experts, including on YouTube for well over 2yrs that have addressed the uncertainties expessed by Western military pundents such as the DC power system and necessary energy to manage the catulpult. They've all been previously answered. There's a vast Chinese military knowledge base available (long with experts) if his team would be responsible to research the literature and these experts in China. It's not difficult to locate and translate. So when presenting Chinese related topics in the future, please incorporate what's available from China beyond their English media such as the SCMP, and eng. language CCTV. BTW, CCTV has a full-time military channel you could even watch. The "real world" extends past the "Anglo-Sphere"!

The problem with putting a lot of troops or equipment on 1 big boat is when 1 gets sunk you loose a lot of troops and or equipment.

Projecting major military power, globally, is nearly impossible. The US is vastly ahead of even China in projecting true military power. The Sichuan (Type 076) is the world's first drone carrier. It will work one of China's two 6th gen fighter gets which are currently in prototype stage. One of them will be carrier based and eventually for China's Type 004 nuclear powered super aircraft carrier which is under construction. China is now building two aircraft carriers simultaneously, one Type 003A (upgraded version of the Type 003 and conventional powered, and one Type 004, nuclear powered.
