China has launched the world’s largest fleet of driverless electric mining trucks in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region using technologies of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and 5G-A connectivity.

中国在内蒙古自治区运用人工智能、云计算和5G-A通信技术，启用了全球规模最大的无人驾驶电动矿用车队。

内蒙古呼伦贝尔，无人电动矿卡“华能睿驰”在伊敏露天矿运行中。全球首个百台纯电动无人驾驶矿用卡车集群在内蒙古投运。据悉，此次投运的“华能睿驰”车型取消了驾驶室的设计。车内安装了564千瓦时的磷酸铁锂电池组，单次换电时间小于6分钟，一次充满电最多需要1小时，满电状态可拉载90吨货物行驶约60公里

The Americans are claiming being the world leader in AI. May be China isn't leading the technology but China is definitely the one making the full use of it whenever possible!
About a year ago China showed driverless roller in some construction site like compacting asphalt. It was driven by 5G and AI remotely. I predicted it is only a matter of time China would put AI into more usages. Then there were youtube videos showing Chinese underground coal mining projects where people no longer need to work at the coal face but all remotely controlled from above ground.
This video is a milestone showing China can work the entire open cast mine without human present. It is another step up the AI ladder.

Electric trucks have a significant advantage in kinetic energy recovery. Typically, for mining trucks, they go up the mountain empty and descend fully loaded with minerals. During the descent, gravitational potential energy is recovered and stored as electrical energy in the truck's battery, allowing the truck to continue climbing and working after unloading the minerals without needing a recharge.
Additionally, electric vehicles are easier to make autonomous compared to fuel-powered vehicles. This is because electric motors respond much faster and more sensitively than the mechanical transmissions of fuel-powered vehicles.

This is how it works: a truck loads up at higher place and go down the hill to unload. In this process gravity potential of the cargo is converted to electricity and charge itself. Then it goes up again empty, this consumes much less energy than it got from going downhill, so it can even have some "net income"in term of electricity and no recharging is needed
