byd's car registrations in Germany are up more than 200% in March. Tesla sales are down. I think it's pretty clear what's happening in Europe. And the scary part about all this is that Bod is planning a model on slaughter in Europe. They're planning to bring in some of their plug-in hybrids, which could be a huge sales success.

What's happening in Germany? Well here's the thing. Germany's largest automotive industry publication has reported today that Germany's new car market is actually in crisis. They say in the first 3 months of the year, 665,000 new cars were registered, which is a decline of 4.3% compared to the previous year. In March, the decline was 4%. This is according to the latest figures. This also reveals the first winners and losers of the year in Germany.

德国的汽车市场究竟怎么了呢?德国最大的汽车行业刊物今日报道称,德国的新车市场实际上正处于危机之中。据报道,今年前三个月,德国新车注册量为66.5万辆,与去年同期相比下降了4.3%。根据最新数据,3月份的降幅为4%。这些数据也揭示了今年德国汽车市场上的首批赢家和输家。

And at the forefront is Chinese brand BYD, which more than tripled its sales. This is of course starting from a low base, but you've got to start from somewhere. BYD has a high number of dealer approvals. And with 1,225 new registrations, BYD ranks ahead of Subaru, Lexus and Polestar for the entirety of the first quarter in Germany.

MG, another Chinese manufacturer, also saw its sales increase by more than 20% in the first 3 months. MG has been around in Germany for much much longer than BYD. And to be honest, a lot of people in Germany still think MG is actually a British car brand.

The trend is continuing. Sales of Chinese brands in Germany increased in February.

Other winners include Renault with a 44.7% increase and Cupra with 21.5%.

But as you can see here, the biggest winner is BYD with a rise in sales in Germany of 212%. MG is up 24%. Tesla is down 62%. Smart is down 74%. Mitsubishi is down 50%. And Porsche is down a staggering 35%.

Next year BYD passes Tesla.

Saw my first BYD seal in U.K. yesterday. Nice looking car but when l checked the price, as a virtually new brand here, it is far too expensive. If the brand does establish itself here it may well sell but it would help if they reduced the price, by a lot.

Does Australia have enough fast power stations. That will dictate uptake. Still no good if i want to drive 800 to 1000 km per day. I don't do it much, but i want to be able to. But i love the idea and if the 15-20 minutes charging happens, all good.

The overwhelming majority of ICE cars can't cover 1000 km on a single tank, so it's not a relevant use case. The vast majority of cars are less than 80 km per day, so rooftop solar is an affordable choice for them.

With US pushing EU and China closer, I expect it will be recognised that:
1. China needs EU as a market for its EVs;
2. EU needs to protect its own auto industry from being swamped by Chinese product.
This should form the basis for positive trade relations going forward.

On the opposite. German carmakers disapprove on the tariffs on Chinese ev-s and the reason is that if you close your market you cannot learn from competitors as you have no access. Competition helps and this is what politicians do not understand.

With BYD we finally have the affordable EV. That is, if governments will remove all financial impediments to the import and sale of these cars. And there are so many ancillary financial benefits of converting our domestic fleet to electricity instead of fossil fuels. For instance, a) health benefits of not polluting our air, b) an improvement of our balance of payments of not having to import fuel, c) a reduction in the curse of wealth in poor countries (nigeria being a prime example), d) not handing over our sovereignty to oil producers, e) not having the money we spend on fuel to come back and make us tenants in our own countries and so forth. I could easily get to k).

有了比亚迪,我们终于有了价格亲民的电动汽车。当然了,前提是政府能取消所有针对这些汽车进口和销售的经济障碍。而且把我们国内的车队从用化石燃料换成用电,还有好多附带的经济好处呢。
