Therefore, when there is no reality in some, the only things left are telling lies, bogus/frauds/and flattery and sycophancy.

There was a time until recently when most of the fraudulent calls were from India to scam Canadians.

India was a slave for one thousand years, And we never shook the shackles of slavery; yes, some did, but noncompetent/wanna-be successful/bogus, fraud artists/living beyond their means with a little skill or zero skills will do anything to make a living.

As per this definition, there is nothing wrong if we be sycophant towards some people to get some advantage. It is human nature to do so. But, while doing so, we should not sacrifice our self honour. Since it mostly bipolar, we were discussion X vs Y. and this person in the office (say A) was supporting X all the time, since his family members support X party. Manager came in, we asked his opinion and he said good about Y, and you know what is the rest. This was one of the light discussions we had had!!

Yes. Very much. I think predominantly the culture is of ‘not rocking the boat’. As children, even if you can see through someone's sycophancy, we are taught to be respectful to them because you never know when you might need someone. But the problem becomes that when someone becomes more successful than their associates, there are so many sycophants around that you stop being able to see through sycophancy. You start believing those things about yourself. And once you lose your own clarity, you stop being successful and then you fail and lose those sycophants. Encouraging sycophants is something that people should not do, but it is difficult.

The nature of work is the main reason . Most of the it companies in India take large but simple projects. There is no much design thinking needed for these kind of projects.Even with so called product companies the situation is not much different. They do mostly maintenance work of exsting projects. This is the premise there are many people who can do the same job.whom will you prefer as a manager?the yes man who doesn’t apply much thought and do whatever you say .or the creative (read proper design) guy who thinks long term and delays the promised delivery date( which of course will be less).remember you are doing per hour billing. If there are some refactoring required because of short term thinking that too will be an advantage. That is because this will come as a new project or extension project with new billing .a win win for the yes man and the manager.
