India became a republic on 26th Jan, 1950 and on this day the constitution of India was effected. Every year on this day, the Indians across the nation celebrate the spirit that is India. The parade in New Delhi, in the presence of the President of India is organized to celebrate and display, India's military prowess, our amazing diversity and honour out martyrs, bravehearts. The theme in my opinion must remain same. I do not want to say that the tradition being followed is outdated. That's the thing about tradition, it may seem old, but its not outdated.  However, adoption of technology, introducing newer themes with broader scope will be a break in monotony and make the celebration interesting. 

It must not be forgotten that this day was because of the efforts of many hardworking men and women of the drafting committee, who gave us a dynamic constitution. We must remember them and feel proud of what they have left for us. It is in my opinion more than the 2 hour parade.

No, not at all. If it is then the festivals we celebrate also been outdated a long time ago. 

It's our culture which is refreshed there every 26th of Jan. If you go on the past then you'll see the organizers are always improvising something new in it from aero stunts to ground parade. It's the best way to show our traditions, our culture and the power of our constitution in the form of parade.

Not outdated but certainly some improvements can be done. 

First thing which comes to my mind is to install cameras at different positions and angles on our fighter jets.

And a huge screen on which the images will be projected.

That will be really good to watch.

Republic Day in India is celebrated every year by organising a huge and grand Republic Day parade in New Delhi at Rajpath, India Gate. Republic Day parade is held annually on 26 of January after the Flag hoisting by the Indian President. This activity becomes the main attraction of Republic Day Celebration of India which generally extends for next 3 days until the beating retreat ceremony. It is organized by the Indian government to represent the defence capability, cultural and social heritages of India in front of the world.

Republic  day parade's preparations start from first week of November. Young  officers, especially who just joined and have good ranking in the training academy get the chance. They come on deputation.

They just have to do the drill as it is very basic in training, except that the whole India is seeing you this time (so no pressure :P ).

The  temperatures in Delhi from early November to January is too painful to  be outdoors. Those selected to do this often have to report for practice drill at 0500 am and have to take extra care of uniform. From 5 to 11  am practicing ( Walking on heels ) and doing this repetitive job is not amusing for many. 

From  23rd of January, full dress rehearsals start at Rajpath. The best drill  is selected and rewarded (everyone in team get a immediate promotion  and that's a very big thing).

Republic day parade ends with the Beating Retreat Ceremony on the 29th January, where military bands  perform and pay their thanks to all who participated in the parade.

2.Rajpath is the permanent venue since 1955 AD, it is also known as “Kingsway”.

3.Every year the Prime minister/president or the ruler of any other nation will be invited as the Guest.

4.On the First parade held on 26th January of 1950, the president of Indonesia Dr.Sukarno was invited as the guest at Rajpath.The Governor- General of Pakistan Malik Ghulam Mohammad was invited.

5.The parade event begins with the arrival of the president. At first, the cavalier bodyguards will salute the National Flag and at this time National anthem is played with 21 guns salute, 7- cannons of Indian Army which are known as “25-ponders”.

As a Senior NCC Cadet in college I had a chance to to be part of the RD Parade @ Rajpath. I couldnt make it since it requires several months of trainings and camps to be attended missing regular classes and even semester exams. Let me share wat will exactly happen if you are part of an RD Contingent. After training and camps at Zonal level, group level , state level.. You are at Delhi a week bfor R Day , It will be cold winter @  Delhi and u wil reach Delhi thro Train in a Military quota seat. Once yu are in Delhi.. gotta pitch the camp tents, mosquito nets, polish the boots, press the uniform and also yea.. There will be competition  with NCC contingents of other states. Now at Rajpath - PM Rally.. 

One can feel the pride and Honour to March and salute for the Flag and PM..Neatly shaved, Zero cut.. uniform worn in perfect fashion with the exact detailing and the arms swinging in a sync... And If you are the Parade Captain of the wng State you will be receiving the Champion Trophy with Pride and Honor from the Prime Minister.

It is an awesome experience. You get to meet a lot of new people. You can enter the tanks and watch the guns close by. You are watched by lakhs of viewers across the nation and abroad. And don't forget the march. Just walking over that road has its own charisma. You can watch the president salute. First hand. Walk around the India Gate. Look at crowds cheering. It's thoroughly enjoyable.

It is not easy to explain in words. Thousands of people, after having practised and rehearsed their roles a countless number of times, get ready in a formation at the Vijay Chowk early on the morning of 26 Jan. As the President's vehicle with the Chief guest goes past the Vijay Chowk, the contingents gear up for the parade. At your turn, as you start from the Vijay Chowk with your contingent, you see a sea of people at the sides of Rajpath, everyone making a video or clicking a picture, the flash making the cameras conspicuous.

As you march past the saluting dias, you can only think of the timing of the “command to salute” amidst the loud crowd, bands and commentary. It is a very very proud moment for any soldier or citizen of this country to salute the President and be saluted back from him. The chest swells with pride and the feet march you on towards the India Gate. It's a beautiful and a proud moment there.

It was totally a day to remember and cherish throughout my life!
