These images capture the haunting beauty of Africa's tallest residential building, which ended up in such disrepair it was branded a 'vertical slum'.

The 55-storey Ponte City tower is 567ft tall and located in a suburb of Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa.

It's dystopian appearance has seen the skyscraper used as a filming location for sci-fi thrillers District 9 and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
