印尼苏门答腊、加里曼丹爆发十一年来最严重的林火，浓烟形成跨境烟霾。新加坡调查和火情相关的企业，发现不少涉事企业注册地在新加坡，这让印尼感到不满。

10月24日，印尼削减对新加坡的管道天然气出口，理由是优先保障国内电力供应。此举对新加坡短期供气压力不大，但新加坡九成以上电力依靠天然气，双方能源合作的稳定性受到质疑。新加坡总理呼吁遵守合同，印尼方面则回应不需要新加坡来教自己履约，目前没有实据证明减气是报复行为。

另外，印尼指控新加坡两家主权基金向 MSCI 施压，故意打压印尼股价，方便低价抄底，但两家基金都否认该说法

It even reached Philippines where I live, which is farther from where the fires are. Singapore has had enough of the corruption and neglect that directly affects them.
