Y-20 will be replaced by Y-20B with indigenous, new engines. Another new lifter, Y-30 (some call it Y-15) is also being developed with its virgin test flight in Dec 25. This new bird is smaller, with a lifting weight of 30 tons, and is powered by propellers rather than jet engines.

It has much much more in common with the IL-76 than the C-17 and not just the D-30 engines. The cockpit is actually plucked from the AN-70, wing platform is all IL-76 with some upgrades and the tail is a lot IL-76 C-17. At least they are ditching the D-30 engines which is only a plus.

China strategy is different. The type 99 tanks are heavy but it is like all western and heavy russia tanks, it is useless against cheap drones. china is not using the y20 for carry heavy tanks. China has many different tanks and armoured vehicles. Heavy tanks are not great in western world as it is not suit for soft lower lands and high lands. type 100 new tanks are china's best tanks now and also type 15 light tanks. y 20 is a 70,000 tons of weight lifter meet china lifter.

@josh656....I am impressed...You are a smart cookie....if you didn't mentioned it, I would not have noticed that it has similar designed such as the wings, engines, tail wings, cockpit, color....yeah everything looks the same just like a plane should be.....how disgusting of the Chinese designers.....they should at least come up with an original design like in the shape of a Chinese dragon or maybe even a flying saucer....but then again, you will accused the Chinese of copying a Martian designed aircraft.

АНТК им. О.К. Антонова принимала непосредственное участие в разработке этого самолета, поэтому он и похож на АН, от Ил -76 там ничего нет, кроме первых двигателей.

安东诺夫设计局直接参与研发，所以机型偏向安系风格；除了早期同款引擎，该机和伊尔76并无关联。
