Amid tensions with Ukraine, Russia successfully conducted multiple launch tests of its hypersonic missile Zircon. The Russian military successfully fired a simultaneous salvo of Zircon hypersonic missiles on Thursday night. Russian president Vladimir Putin hailed the missile test, calling it ' a big event' for the country. Putin lauded the missile as part of a new generation of unrivaled arms systems. Putin said the missile worked against both naval and ground targets. “The tests were conducted successfully, immaculately. This is a big event in the life of the country and a considerable step in strengthening Russia's security and improving its defence capability," said Putin.

It's not about Ukraine (with its ruined economy it's not an asset, but a liability). It's about Russia long-term security.  Putin said that he didn't  need negotiations, he needed results. No more NATO expansion, no more NATO militarization of Eastern Europe, no more NATO attack systems in Eastern Europe, no more broken promises (not one inch eastwards etc.) He has a point, but US establishment doesn't understand language of reason and never keeps promises.  The only thing that can bring US establishment to its senses is nuclear tipped supersonic missiles that can incinerate Washington DC in 5 minutes

Yes. Much depends on just how crazy the US establishment really is. Some fear the worst.Russia is perfectly justified in demanding a change to the current status quo, which points strongly to a missile attack on Russia from multiple sources. In such a high stakes diplomatic situation I suspect Russia, cheered on by China and quite a few other countries, will prevail.
