The government should create very small scale fabs in key universities like IIT,IISc and NIT's so that the students also learn fabrication techniques and processes hands on and can do R&D with professors to further improve them. The students when passed out can get directly recruited to the upcoming fab facilities as key engineers, so that we will have a key talent pipeline flowing in.

Does India know how technically challenging chip manufacturing is? Even China spent decades and nearly a trillion US dollars to achieve 5‑nm chip production. The United States has only recently been able to produce 3‑nm chips with the help of TSMC and suppliers across the globe. Yet India, with only a few Indian rupees of investment and almost zero chips talents, deludes itself into achieving 3‑nm chip production in 8 years. You can always see Indians making such absurd boasts. In fact, without importing foreign equipment and materials, India cannot even produce 1000nm chips. India even has to import LED bulbs and refrigerator compressors from China, but now India is talking about 3nm chips

What do you mean by saying 40nm chip? India has only achieve 180nm in a lab than achieving mass production and wuth great yeild. Hence, it doesnt make u a leader in chip fab by just buying a ASML lithography machine. Even US cant make them like TSMC does. What about the hightech and sophisticated supply chains of various industries to support chip industry of various kind. To make chips from curry powder, Saar? Designing chips, chips stacking tech, chips architecture, EDS softwares, ultra pure photoresists/monomer chemicals, mass production, testing and most importantly the supply chains are totally different stories all together. Lastly a reliable and secure supply of electricity and water in a great amount.
要造40纳米芯片?打嘴炮而已!印度只在实验室做出180纳米样品,根本没法稳定量产、保证良品率。单凭购入一台阿斯麦光刻机,成不了晶圆制造行业的领头羊。就连美国都达不到台积电的制造水平。支撑芯片产业,需要各行各业配套的高端、精密供应链,这些印度准备好了吗?难道靠咖喱粉造芯片吗?芯片设计、芯片堆叠技术、芯片架构、EDA软件、超高纯度光刻胶与化学原料、大规模量产、芯片检测,最重要的完整供应链,每一项都是截然不同的难题。除此之外,芯片生产还需要稳定、充足的水电供应。

3nm is like intel 18A. If efficiency of pantherlake is to be believed, a 3nm chip with backside power delivery would be game changing. x86 is not the future tho. RiscV is.

3nm ... in 8 years .. meaning realistically in 80 years, just like Tejas and Kaveri jet engines. India needs a true nationalistic leader else it is doomed.
