'China Is Tightening Strategic Footprint Around India': Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixt Sounds Warning

India’s strategic environment is becoming increasingly complex as China expands its influence across South Asia and the Indian Ocean. Speaking at a security seminar in New Delhi, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixt warned that Beiing is tightening its footprint around India through infrastructure investments, political engagement and growing military partnerships. He pointed to projects linked to the Belt and Road Initiative including ports in Gwadar and Hambantota that are resha the region’s strategic balance. According to Dixt, the Indian Ocean is no longer a peaceful backyard but a competitive arena of great power rivalry. He stressed the need for India to build a coherent strategic response, strengthen defence self-reliance and deepen cooperation through the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue with the United States, Japan and Australia. The warning highlights rising geopolitical competition around India’s neighbourhood.

随着中国在南亚和印度洋不断扩大影响力，印度的战略环境正日趋复杂。在新德里一场安全研讨会上，空军中将阿舒托什·迪克西特警告称，中国正通过基建投资、政治接触以及日益深化的军事合作，加紧对印度形成战略围堵。

他提及“一带一路”框架下的相关项目，包括瓜达尔港和汉班托塔港，称这些项目正在改变地区战略格局。迪克西特认为，印度洋已不再是和平的“后院”，而是大国博弈的角力场。

他强调，印度必须制定连贯的战略应对方案，加强国防自主化建设，并通过美日印澳四边机制深化合作。这一警告凸显出印度周边地缘政治竞争正持续加剧。

We need massive funds for defence and drone ecosystem fast. Navy calls Indian Ocean its backyard but didn't know US nuclear sub near Sri Lanka coast.

Enjoy the consequences, don't complain. China had never seen India as any sort of strategic target until recent years when India intentionally provoks China (doing the US's favor) along the border. Now China has heavy military presence along border, restricts tech & investment to India, sends advanced arms to Pakistan etc. enjoy.
