India has held its first international air exercise of 2026 with the Royal Thai Air Force near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Strait of Malacca, a critical global maritime choke point handling about one-third of world seaborne trade and vital to China’s energy supply.

The drill involves advanced fighter jets such as the Su‑30 and JAS‑39 Gripen, aiming to improve interoperability, patrol capabilities, maritime surveillance, and combat readiness. Strategically, the exercise supports India’s efforts to counterbalance Chinese influence in the Indo‑Pacific, in line with its Act East Policy, SAGAR vision, and engagement with ASEAN, Quad, and BRICS.

印度与泰国皇家空军在安达曼–尼科巴群岛及马六甲海峡附近，举行了2026年首场国际空军演习。马六甲海峡是全球关键海上咽喉要道，承担着全球约三分之一的海运贸易，对中国的能源供应至关重要。

此次演习动用了苏-30、JAS-39“鹰狮”等先进战斗机，旨在提升两军协同作战能力、巡逻能力、海上监视水平与战备状态。从战略上看，该演习支持印度在印太地区制衡中国影响力的努力，符合其“东进政策”、“安全与增长惠及所有地区”（SAGAR）愿景，以及印度与东盟、四方安全对话（Quad）、金砖国家的合作框架。

Indian exercises near malacca straits do not deter chinese from sending its war ships and spy ships into seas close to india. China already has naval bases in myanmar, sri lanka and Pakistan. Very soon china will have naval base in Bangladesh too.

India should conduct joint army exercises with Vietnam and Phillipines which are already had clashes with aggressive china. The rest of south east asian countries won’t go against china as their economy is mainly dependent on china and their armies are too weak to tackle Chinese threats. Thailand can help india in anti piracy operations but not anti china operations.
