Four years ago, Yi Bofeng, a train attendant from China's remote southwestern border in Yunnan Province, greeted passengers aboard the newly launched China-Laos Railway.
From continuously improving her multi-lingual skills to aiding in emergencies, Yi's experience has evolved into a personal journey of connection, growth and shared dreams.

四年前，来自中国西南边陲云南省的列车员依波逢，在全新开通的中老铁路上迎来了首批旅客。

从不断精进多语种服务技能，到随时应对各类突发状况，依波逢的工作经历，早已蜕变成一段关于联结情谊、实现成长、共筑梦想的人生旅程。

I'm sorry, what is the problem here? For me it's quite logical that she was chosen as a spokesperson, her qualifications are good for the job, she speaks multiple languages, was there when the line first opened & (from what I understood) works as some kind of supervisor/ instructor to the other personnel. Were they suppose to choose a rookie?

Bangkok will follow before Singapore. China has already helped construct a huge rail terminus in the Thai capital and eventually the high-speed line will be extended to Bangkok from Laos.

The joke inside Southeast Asia is that Laos has become a southern province of China. The result of these rail links will be cheap Chinese manufactured goods pouring into Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia, displacing local workers, while raw materials and agricultural products are shipped to China. The Lao, Thai, and Malay people will be left with fewer well paying manufacturing jobs and higher food prices of lower quality.
