This looks like it's intended for military apps. One indication is the the engine exhaust. Note how the outlet has a long thin cross section. If this has turbine engines, it's probably mixng in cooler air with the exhaust to lower exhaust temps and the IR signature.

The first successful flight for VTOL rotor was Germany's Focke-Wulf Fw-61....in 1936.
Yes there were other nations with patented ideas, however Germany successfully demonstrated a stable hover as well as controllable rearward, sideward, and forward flight (to 76 mph).

This who copying thing is just silly. Most engineers or inventors will get inspiration from other similar ideas. There are laws of physics or design that limits the technology. Why do passenger jet planes all look similar? Did Airbus copy Boeing, or Boeing copy Airbus for some models?
Or you go back to the Wright Brothers and their planes. They copied or were inspired by other investors too.
